or you could just get a Saab 9-5 with leather seats like this one:

A couple of years older and a few more miles but £125 less so it depends on what your preferences are

Seems to tick a lot of boxes.
Leather, looks, Diesel estate and a long mot.
I haven't checked the mot history maybe best not to and just buy it.

Shame, it looks quite nice, too.

I recently sold the 2.4JTD saloon version with 150k on it for £450 - it was tidy with history and drove well.Leather, looks, Diesel estate and a long mot.

I had zero interest in it from AT but a mate wanted a runabout - he's covered approx 8k in it now without any problems - must confess I'm surprised.

Ideal cheap winter car - cheap IMO - if it was closer I'd buy it.JumboBeef said:
Anyone know of a cheap auto in the South West? My other half has just had an operation on her left leg and so can't drive her 2002 manual golf (that she's had for 9 years). Thanks.
Found one! What do people think of this for £460? It's the 3 litre version. Air con needs regassing and it needs a couple of tyres soon. Other than that all seems good.sdkrc said:
That looks great. If I need a car quickly at some point, I hope there are things like this aroundJumboBeef said:

I used to have a V6. Good solid car, good cruiser and with a wee bit of characterful V6 noise. Very American, I'd say, in a laidback sort of way. Not an entertaining drive, but swift, comfortable, well-equipped and rare enough to be interesting, and to this day pretty good looking (imo). Mine had a Honda bodykit (front dam, side skirts and rear wing spoiler) and fandango wheels but as they are I think the styling is pretty neat. Very reliable if serviced, spacious inside for a coupe. I can't see there being many "better" or more reliable cars for the money if biggish size and 2 doors are what you're after. I'd have another - in fact I'm thinking of getting one as a commuter car!em177 said:

Aircon needs regassing - it has a sunroof!!
How many miles? If it is low 100ks I'd jump on it for under £500. Tyres will cost about £200 unless you insist on something premium.
I don't think anyone buying a 500 car can insist on premium... How many miles? If it is low 100ks I'd jump on it for under £500. Tyres will cost about £200 unless you insist on something premium.
Took it to work today, drives very well. More Waft than Race. I think the exhaust on the Y piece at the back might have a slight blow, not mentioned on the MOT a couple of weeks ago. I hope someone can do a touch of welding otherwise I'm guessing a rear section is going to cost a few bob.
