And no sooner has it arrived, it's on the car. The safest place to store it due to the delacay of the thin wall (2mm in places)
(Breathes a sigh of relief, that despite the outward confidence that it'll be fine, there's always the possibility I've missed something daft, result would be a £30,000 piece of scrap & a 12 week delay in build!!!!
Marking up to trim the stringer end profile.

Is there any communication with your American 'competitors' - is the 'ultra fast' scene friendly or are they a bit sniffy towards the bloodhound team?
Quite apart from anything else, i would imagine your openness is distinctly unsettling for them, they can't harbour any delusions regarding the quality and thoroughness of your engineering, they can see what is going to be necessary in order to go faster and i would think that would put them off a little.
There is a landspeed racing page on facefart, which I post on, one character in particular criticises every aspect of the project. Maybe they are worried. If there are no confidentiality issues would it be possible to do a PH Sunday Service so we can see the engineering up close?
Just an idea as it may be you don't have sufficient parking o facilities to accomodate such an event.
Possibly, you'd have to talk to our PR dept, we have limited parking out front & in the yard.Just an idea as it may be you don't have sufficient parking o facilities to accomodate such an event.

I know this is going to sound incredibly naive. But here goes anyway. Do the machining marks get removed/polished out, and the frames stress relieved after machining in any way? minimising failure points???
Thanks.
Kevin
The machining marks have no measurable effect on the car, whilst they are visible, if you run your nail over them you can barely feel them.Thanks.
Kevin
Many of the billets we use are stress reviled before they go on the machine

I still can't see the script on the fin yet.
You do realise that I won't let this project go ahead without it.
I've had a chat to the relevant people, this is going to happen, it will even be visible when the car is finished, not inside some panel never to see the light of day again...You do realise that I won't let this project go ahead without it.
No what did it have to say, let me know & I'll 'make it so'

Out of curiosity how hot do you expect the springs and dampers to get?
To keep the wheels in contact with the ground they must have to work a great deal at very high velocities creating substantial amounts of heat.
Will the dampers be cooled?
As you will have to do the second run within an hour are you confident everything will have cooled down sufficiently before the restart?
Paul
The damping rates are actually very low, due to the mass of the car.To keep the wheels in contact with the ground they must have to work a great deal at very high velocities creating substantial amounts of heat.

Once the car has come to a standstill we will plug in large fans to pass air over the inside of the car.
