.....and when you try to get your hidden gem serviced you have the pleasure of the Mitsubishi dealer network (thunder plays in the background)!

The only dealer in my county, namely Fife Mitsubishi, refused to service my car, "because I didn't buy it there"........ tumbleweed

Go figure!
My local dealer has no servicing facility. They drive your car somewhere else.

I have enormous respect for the capability of cars like this, never had one or even considered one but liked them nonetheless.

Ah ok I get you now biggrin

There have only been 2. The VIII FQ400 and more recently, the X FQ400.

Oh yeah- the IX was just the FQ-360 wasn't it?

Incredibly capable cars. Pretty much ground-based jet planes. Totally unsuitable for public roads, realistically... but you'd need a bloody faster helicopter to keep track of one... hehe

"We must include new demand, especially for environmentally friendly aspects"

WHO demands this?!?!?! certainly nobody that's ever bought an Evo!

governments, maybe... via some ulterior motive, no doubt related to increased taxation of some sort... but not people who love their cars, not their driver's cars, that's for sure.

green eco-friendly trucks, busses, freight, school-run-mum vehicles, shopping- trolley hatchbacks, commuter cars... sure, great, but leave our drivers cars alone!!!
Maybe people who would have bought an Evo if only they could have got one on their company scheme governed by tax brackets, afforded to fuel one, afforded to service one, (i.e afford to USE one).

lol@ calling an Evo un-interrupted, mechanical driving. Pull the computers out and see if it drives the same.

No idea, I'm just trying to point out that they're a good pedal with or without AYC. I'm sure an RS owner will be along shortly to wax lyrical.

The RS does without the SST gearbox and chassis electronics in favour of a five-speed manual and mechanical diffs.

Also comes minus the spoiler, radio and powered seats and is fitted with with 16in wheels.

Link to Evo mag's review of it.

Yeah you can get RS versions from 5-10 (possibly even before 5).

Whats wrong with AYC? I like it!

If I was to buy another Evo X it would be an RS.T he most fun I had in my 360 with with all the traction control stuff switched off. Would be even better with mechanical diffs...

I believe they are Jappy import only and are a bit of a 'blank canvas'?

On the topic of the RS model and AYC vs Non AYC, etc.

You can/could buy an RS with all mech diffs, ACD but with mech rear, and ACD + AYC. They also came with crap brakes, and 16 inch wheels and taxicab interior as it was expected that all of that would be binned and replaced with MS items. Most RS buyers opted for air-con, Brembos, and 17 inch wheels, with ACD and rear mech diff. But from what research I did most of the RS diffs are fitted with clutch packs in the incorrect orientation so they are much less aggressive and less likely to have buyers complaining that they are broken (i.e. noisey). Again it was assumed that they would be rebuilt prior to use.

I have an VII RS with AYC and Ralliart Grn N Tarmac controller which runs the system at a higher pressure and has more aggressive strategy - it gives a more predictable handling balance IME. The Gravel controllers run at even higher pressure and have the more aggressive strategy again. Activation in both is faster and occurs more frequently.

As to which set-up is best?

So you could buy an RS, and then spec it with all the things they took off?

The best ones to drive are the RS models and the 9GT, these are the cars that get used for group N cars.

On track I always found RS models handle better, the older AYC cars dont have lsd's and they understeer far more.

As for when people talk about Evo's being the computer/electronics driving its just utter nonsense.
