There is one road in particular on my way home from work and its an absolute classic for mild road rage, Basically its a dual carriage way that merges into one at the bottom, its a 30 zone and never any heavy traffic but people ALWAYS race to the merging point and its always the car in the right hand lane trying to over takeeveryone in the left hand lane and cut in but its then you get the people in the left hand lane speeding up so they cant do it and it always results in an awkward moment when they both get to the point the road merges and one of them has to slow down!

what makes it even more classic is shortly after the road merges it opens up again into 2 lanes to go straight ahead,Most people stay in the left lane as the right hand lane sometimes has cars turning right which means if your trying to go straight ahead you may get stuck beihind the cars turning right but if none goes right you can over take a bunch of cars this way, its very funny when two people just raged at the 1st merging and one of them trys to take the right hand lane but gets stuck behind the cars turning right and the other rager breeze's past in the left hand lane cracks me up every time....wow sorry im rambling a bit now haha

I've become more angry at those who think 40 is now the all round speed.

I think most people are road raging because they're either not very good at driving, are scummy people or are starting to lose their bother with the road. I have to admit ive held the horn down at lights when the retard who was tailgating me turns out to be on their phone, only to get some strange look. I feel like quite a saddo for doing it, but surely mobile phone useage is a known killer, im not talking about answering the phone quickly to say ring me back on the motorway or something, im talking about the 18 something retard texting with no eyes for the road.

most tailgaters are a bunch of pussys anyway 9 times out of 10 if i stare them out in my rear view mirror they back off, i am a big guy with an ugly face tho so that help. i love it when they tailgate overtake and we end up along side each other at some lights, they seem to loose all their balls when i stare them out!Thats one thing i have noticed about tailgaters most seem to be little insecure men they crawl into their shell when faced with a real man

Personally i think 40 should be the all around speed driving everywhere at a solid 30 is ridiculous

depends where youre driving, i feel in built up areas, 30 is acceptable, but the constant changing for NSL to 50's and now 40's is getting my goat, however the fact that on the few stretches of road left that are still NSL people tootle at 40. Drives me mad.

I reckon the anger rate is growing proportionally to the increase in physical cowardice.

The chance of a raging driver being able to act on his "brave" acts in the car are getting slimmer as your average fury ridden motorist gets fatter or nerdier.
On the contrary the UKs populace are fast becoming chavvier and more stupid. Fat, tatooed shaved head tossers.
The tone of your post shows kinship with this ilk.

Personally think you are seeing more incidents as there are more cars on the road.

This ^^^

Plus the fact that many people who would have taken public transport when it was cheaper and more widely available have been forced into car's for convenience reasons, so they're not natural drivers. Meaning it can be frustrating to be behind them when they stop at roundabouts when there's nothing there, or slow right down approaching traffic lights just in case they turn red, for example. These things tend to slow the flow of traffic right down because they don't make progress, don't keep the momentum up.
And people don't concentrate on the road as much as they used to, on their mobile phones or doing the crossword with the paper balanced on the steering wheel.

That's my theory anyway.

Have to say though that most of the anger happens in the morning - by the afternoon peoples belly's are full, they've woken up and they're chilled out.

So I'm a dole scrounging chav then?

Nope, just someone that;s caught up with road rages a couple of times and seen them turn to jelly. I'm not some giant hardman, I just feel that if someone is willing to threaten myself or my families safety for a few ego points, they should realise that there can be repercussions.

Saw that vid a while back -excellent stuff.

Maybe it's me but it seems that most of the time I see aggressive driving, it's by a fat rep or a quivering geek hiding in their metal boxes.

It simply shows how much cowardice their is on the roads. People don't think "what if I see him later" or "what if he takes down my reg number" - they just rage, put others in danger, then drive off, considering themselves to have "won."It doesn't always work like that.

That right there is what people should be thinking about.
I had a rager at me in a car park a few years ago.He got in my face finger jabbing. I pushed him back and asked him to get of my face.He came to do it again fearing imminent attack my army training kicked in and I defended my self via punching him in the face.He ended up sat on the floor in said car park.I drove off.

I feel most of the anger is aimed towards people pointing out an error. Best to chill.

Once saw a boy (15ish) press the button on a crossing whilst walking past (not to cross) causing the car in front to stop suddenly.
The driver then got out, showed the lad the floor, so to speak, got back in and drove off.
I was shocked but had to chuckle.
A very ott reaction but he'll never do it again.

I used to do that as a kid. Thought it was hilarious hehe. I learnt a few years back how unfunny it is actually is, as some idiot had stuck a piece of chewing gum over the button and they only stayed on green for around 5 seconds before changing to red again. Seriously, if I'd ever found out who'd done that they wouldn't be alive right now.. furious

I used to get very annoyed at inconsiderate road users, those pushing in when everyone was queuing; the cars that regularly use a service road to overtake the line of traffic queuing and save less than a minute on the way to work, thinking they are somehow more important than the rest of us ... Have just been lucky enough to spend 3 months travelling, two months of which was in Australia. Contrary to another poster's experience I found drivers in Oz to be a bit rubbish in that they seem to have no awareness of what is around them, so they pull out on you the immediately stop to turn right... But incredibly courteous. Their crawler lanes merge to the overtaking rather than the other way round as per Uk roads. I did 5k km in a campervan and found those overtaking would always lift off to let you out at the end of the crawler lane. Can't imagine that in UK. They also usually let you out of junctions and don't tend to aggressively overtake or tailgate.

In fact I was amused that when driving through Surfers Paradise they had signs up asking drivers to drive considerately, and I summised that was for the forgieners that flock there.

Having got back I have made a concerted effort to chill and take time to watch the more interesting life going on around you. It makes life far more pleasant. Also letting people out rather than making then push out makes YOU feel better, and who cares if they don't say thank you, but it is extra nice if they do Strangely though I find it far less stressful in the Defender than the Z4, even though the Z has more creature comforts, not sure why?

Took me nearly 3 hours to drive the 30kms home yesterday in Sydney traffic.
