Good on you for getting a new car, and if you want to put your own plate on it- go for it!

And whatever you do, don't let small minded retards tell you you're wrong. smile

Read the thread..

My friend to said to 'show off', not me.

I stated his age too, why haven't you quoted that part too?
If you can't make your own decisions regarding a fking number plate how the hell can you expect to get through life.
What?

I asked for opinions.

You do know opinions and decisions are two completely different things right?
Yes, but why do you need opinions from others? Why can't you make your own opinion up and decide from there?

You could be getting an opinion from a nerdy IT consultant with a diesel Octavia - and this being PH, it's even more likely!
That's me ..... sadly I don't have an opinion on this .... I had a Suzuki GT250 on an "M" plate if that helps.

Actually, as with many others I do have an opinion. This is PH - drive it and enjoy it.

If I saw a 19yo in an SLK I'd probably think it was his mums.

So this thread turned into a witch hunt rolleyes

The OP didn't ask for opinions on his car, just whether we would be more impressed by a number 12 or a private plate. No need to make it personal, he seems like a nice guy.

I'm still puzzled by the diesel SLK or Cayman dilemma though!

So you've got a brand new car, and a great (valuable) plate - put the plate on the car!

If you leave it as a 12 reg, some people might think it's not yours, just leased or on crippling finance. If it's got your plate on, you're showing everyone you are proud of your car AND your plate.

Just my 2p-worth...

Oh, and pics please! smile
ahem

I think lots of the current crop of Mercedes cars are available in AMG sport flavour, its cosmetic a bit like an Sline pack.

You could take a picture of the 12 plate and make it your facebook profile

I genuinely didn't mean that to be mean spirited, just a tongue-in-cheek comment. Honest! smile

...i was going to add 'and still lives with their mum' but i thought that was too harsh!

Cheers to the supportive people.

And I've chosen the SLK because it's a 1.8, handles nice, looks good and is pretty fast!

The insurance on it is also not that bad.

A reminder to me that there are lots of knob's who care lots what people think of them. Put on what you want you bloody baby. I think a two number and two digit is good so I would put it on regardless. Someone else said they wouldn't but a 12 plate on purpose? Why not?! You care what people think too?

Bang on thumbup

There's no shame in the lad being proud of his new ride & wanting to talk about it on a motoring forum.

Well done OP, I look forward to the pics cool
