I hope they write it off.You wouldn't want that back with all the panels repaired and re-painted.
I'd want it written off, then bought back for scrap money. Holes or no, it's still going to be fking rapid!

Just before it dumped a zillion tons of water on us.
I know they said on the news that you had a black cloud or two but that's something you would expect to see in some Hollywood disaster flick !!

No such thing as AoG. Hasn't been for years.

It's 'Force Majuere' nowadays.

It's a sensible clause to protect a company from a blind side wipeout but obviously it is now used to stop as many payouts as possible.

To be honest it should be defined by the regulator as a series of incidents that would collapse the firm not ever cover one off events.
It's a bit of hail. Do you really think that multi-nationals covering £100billions of risk will fold on the back of a few extra claims.

Naive.

This is really fked up, I didn't know we had hail that big in the UK. Can you imagine how much damage that would cause if it hit the Goodwood Festival of Speed? The insurers would have to fold.

Was anyone hurt?

This whole "act of god" insurance scam needs to stop.

Simple, prove to me there is a God then will talk about the acts.

Despite numerous people (who know all about this) stating that there is no Act of God exclusion on any polices, it still continues to be a hot topic.

Simply because quite some time ago the term became legally compromised and so was replaced with the Latin casus fortuitus or the French force majeuer clauses.

Like I said, it is a designation within most legal contracts including insurance policy to protect the insurer from 'blind side' events. But also like I said, parties will try to use it to extract themselves from singular obligations.

wink

So what's excluded on your policy then? The reason i ask is that every insurer I know is paying out on these claims and not paying hasn't even been discussed.

One hour's rain and you were up to your waist in it? That must have been like a monsoon. Crazy stuff.

The sky went nearly pitch black up here in Alnwick Northumberland.

It only rained for 20 mins or so, but it did this to the town centre.

Our roof at work gave up the ghost within 2 minutes of the rain coming down, and promptly turned our coffee shop into a swimming pool.

Never seen anything like it in this country.

I wonder if anyone got hurt by that hail, it it can do that to a stiff metal panel like an Apillar, that could break skull.

I was walking the hound on paths at the side of the runway at Manchester Airport between Chrsitmas and New Year and got caught in a hail storm, just regular hail but propelled sideways by powerful winds, it was horrendous, I got brain freeze from it hitting me, I had to scoop the dog up and protect him from it, no planes were flying for about 30 mins, totally drenched and peppered, so god knows what recent weather would be like to be caught in.

Thankfully it is very rare over here, kind of a once every twenty plus years thing.
