Hi my pd ibiza 130 was much faster in every respect to the puma my girlfriend owned may have just been a bad one and yes it was the 1.7. Now remapped to 150 Bhp and egv delete Cupra intake it goes ok mixed bag can keep with my mate Clio 182 but other 182s I can't depends a lot on the driver. I think PDs are great for low down power and lazy overtakes and I like that, but the puma and my old type r were great fun when you drove them in the power band feel flat till it kicks in. The Ibiza feels fast soon as you hit the pedal then soon runs out.
The Puma must have been a bad one, or it was not driven properly (assuming the DERV was standard when you compared).

Puma - 123 bhp, 1050 kg, 0-60 in 8.8s, top speed 125 mph
Ibiza 130 - 130 bhp, 1200 kg, 0-60 in 9.2s, top speed 126 mph.

Fail to see how it could be "much faster" TBH.

When I had my standard Fabia vRS I had a little play with a Puma, nowt in it at all.

Mk3 Cupra, K03s turbo, few other engine bits, Jabba map, Brembo 4 pots, stripped out with Recaros, weighs 1020kgs with 1/4 tank of fuel and made 237bhp at RS Tuning a few weeks ago.
Sounds great had a mk3 Cupra myself great cars standard yours must be rapid. Looking at a leon Cupra next as need a 5dr undecided it petrol cupra r or diesel cupra do 20k a year so the diesel might get it.

Yeah I always thought that as people do rate them. It was my gfs car so just kept on top of the servicing and never looked into if it was down on power. I did have a cheap tuning box fitted at the time before the remap , i could edge ahead of a work mates vrs with that maybe due to the weight.

How ? I've got a 182 Cup and can't get to average over 28.; My car has 52k and has been serviced regularly. I do a mix of motorway, town and country driving.

By the way I really can't see how performance and Diesel can go in the same sentence yet as there aren't any sports cars that are diesels. You can have a run of the mill mass produced car which is diesel and marketed well but no performance cars ? Correct me if I'm wrong though smile
Yours must be broken... I am averaging 34mpg at the moment with mixed driving as well and I can have a heavy right foot at times. When I actually bother to attempt to drive economically it can give 40mpg on a run. Only time I saw sub 30mpg was a late night drive back from Lincoln sat at 100+ leptons nearly all the way averaged about 28.5mpg.

330d`s dont have swirl flaps
Not quite accurate. All autos and the 204bhp manuals had them, the initial 184bhp manuals went without. I know for a fact my 204bhp model had them, as I have the receipt for the work to take them out.

- You mean you had a bill for someone to not do anything wink
I removed my own from a 204hp E46 330d manual.
I had a 2004 330d manual and it had the swirl flaps removed by my local garage.
The 204bhp models all had swirl flaps.
You only have to google BMW Swirl Flaps to see this is the case that the later 330D's had them.

233bhp, 357ft/lb for £1925 (purchase price of car and remap), can anyone beat that?.
Safe to say it is unbeatable then?.
