Anyway, as I said in the piece the endless permutations of what you can have are one of the great things about these cars. There's no right or wrong, just what's best for your needs. And it sounds like you've got a pretty good idea of that, much as I did with this one! Looking forward to it though - to be continued!

Cheers,

Dan
Cheers Dan! New car will be a little longer (wedding to pay for first!) smile but a hot hatch of this sort is my most likely choice to replace my current wheels.

Getting my wheels back after enforced absence because of illness made me realise how grateful I am for any car. driving Chin up, and I hope you'll be back behind the wheel of that Megane soon. smile

I'd like the know this too, although given how lairy 150lbft and 200bhp can be in a FWD Civic in the wet, I can't imagine 250+ bhp + lbft coping much better without an LSD... eek
It's effortless.

I've done trackdays where it's been absolutely pouring down, and with PS2's the car has gripped with no problems at all.

On the road, you won't even break traction unless you're doing something stupid. It's a car that flatters you when you drive it,

You can't get the 265 in yellow.

Think you can now spec it (or will be able to very soon if not) for delivery next year smile

Agree, they are STAGGERING good in the wet! The best wet weather car I have ever driven!

I was at Spa in October and it was PISSING down in the morning so my mate hired this rather than risk smashing up his 430Scud which he hadnt ever driven on track before...

I had a 'quick go' and I expected it to be good. I didnt expect it to be AMAZING and such brilliant fun. It just found Grip everywhere that other cars just weren't.

The driving aids all work so well without intruding annoying and makes a superhero driver out of anyone.

I ended up doing about 30 laps in this and loved every one. Fabulous car. One of the best I have ever driven. Personally I HATE the looks of it though.

Having owned an RS Clio 200 from new I really must try the Megane version, I'm not sold on the looks but the glowing PH reviews encourage me that it will be a lot of fun! For the record the Clio has so far been 100% reliable over 14k miles and 3 years.

Just one thing, it shares the same Recaro seats as my Clio, I was told you do have to rather careful getting in and out of the seats to prevent wear on the leg bolster... Or worse, bashing your nadgers. I find dropping in to the seat (a move familiar to many 2 seaters sports car owners) does the trick.

Dan - Hope you make a fast recovery and can get behind the wheel again soon.

Sorry if this offends but it's the common description among Renault folk, or at least was last time I was one of their crowd.

They are st end of story. I suppose the brand new almost equally st 182 I had was also clapped out?

Don't need to be an expert to know how st they are tbh. Most people do.
I genuinely don't understand why you bought a second Clio after hating the brand new one you had first. I agree with you about the driving position being st, and the size of the steering wheel though. Yes, the interior trim is pretty crappy, but what do you expect for the price?

Maybe you had a 'Friday' car, I don't know. Mine has been fine in my ownership, and a colleague has taken his original 172 over 120K miles with no major issues either.

Oh yeah, love the Megane by the way. It's exactly the way I'd spec it, colour aside.

Dan

I think most know what you mean, though Full Fat is one with everything, so the sport + cup chassis i.e. you can't have full fat with cup chassis wink

Stems from the Clio 182 where a full fat was the regular 182 with both cup packs added

I do like these, but I think that those wheels look horrendous with it. At that price in terms of performance cars I'd go for an Insignia VXR. Different class and much less thrilling, but I'm a relaxed driver and find the lazier nature more appealing.

Indeed, I don't use it, I'd say a cup packed version

Yes indeed, RRP does not tell the real story.

My Clio Cup was 25% cheaper than RRP (helped by scrap scheming a £500 winter hack Mondeo Ghia at the same time)!

They probably do drive very well...

But they look hideous. Inside and out.

Its a Renault so buy new, keep it until the warranty runs out, then run away as fast as you can.
Worst advice I've ever read. Did you mean buy nearly new and sell before the warranty runs out?

How's the Renault Vel Satis engine in your Zed working out? hehe

Common mistake, the Z's engine is a Nissan engine, regardless of what Clarkson has said on Top Gear smile

Maybe. But the same could be said for most other new words/phrases that have appeared since the internet age began.

Anyway, back on topic...
