And now someone is saying its a bad thing that it looks vaguely similar to the gen4 Legacy, which is one of the better looking cars Subaru has produced?
Can you point out the part where I said it was a bad thing?

Hideous.
We are watching the slow death of Subaru.

What a sad end to a once awesome product / brand

Don they do consumer tests prior to production sign off ?

Death? End? I think you're missing that their global profit has gone through the roof and that the US loves them more than any other region. They're doing things very right in that respect so while this might not be to everyones taste, it'll sell very well.

<reads post properly>

Fair point, it was someone else who thought looking like a Legacy was bad.

Glad it's back,but oh dear.
I think boxed wheel arches, bigger wheels and those huge fog lights would have helped. Some big Brembos on display would have also been nice.

Looks no where near as good as the WRX concept released earlier in the year... such a disappointing departure.
Shame they lost their nerve, this is spot on.

M understanding is suburu do well in the us, better than there home market. They have designed a car for plastic tastless yanks, and it will sell by the buxket load. Selling in the uk is just lip service.

The power is probably low due to high emissions, again the us market.

Realistically was it ever going to look like that concept? Back seat headroom would not be its strong point...

Unfortunately, I am not a US soccer mum.

I am, instead, one of those pesky "hoons", who expects performance from a performance car, and I'm not afraid to say that.

This car has apparently put on weight, and has dropped performance as a result. The CVT is a joke for the once-proud marque.

Hard-won motorsport legacy, squandered. Despair, painful to watch, sadness.

When you say 'apparently' do you mean you've actually seen a weight figure somewhere, or is it just the usual internet speculation?

It has one foot in the WRC and the other foot in 1987.
I'm curious... have you actually looked at the photos of the car? And have you actually seen a car from 1987?

I have to ask as I can't think of a single car from 1987 which looks anything like this. There were good looking cars, and bad looking cars, but there weren't any cars like this.

Or do you just mean that they made red cars back then too?

It was supposed to be a humorous comment on the woeful and dated styling of the Subaru rather than an accurate reflection on the designs of 1987. You really shouldn't take things so literally. A sense of humour seems to have eluded you today so I'm sorry for that.

I have looked at losts of Subaru pictures lately - including the previews in American magazines of the new Levorg and I still maintain that they desperately need a new stylist. It is NOT a good looking car.

Not sure a soccer mum drives a WRX but I wish they did :P I don't think anyone can doubt this'll be a performance car but certainly not a limited edition like a 22B...because this just just a boggo WRX. They've also been doing autos for years and it's just an option for those who want it. Anyway I wouldn't speculate until it's been driven and the actual stats are out. Any photos of your 22B?

Maybe you could explain?? And also explain how this car really differs from Imprezas of the past, as it seems rather similar to me.

It's better than the last saloon. That was horrid. This is just rather overdone.
