Came in to post this. I saw it on the A21 heading out of Bromley sometime in the late 80's. Never seen anything like it on the road since. Was doing a toy run on the bike a few years ago and they had two cars in the group, one was a robin reliant with a rover v8 ( Video Here) and the other a raised american pickup where the bonnet was almost level with my head (i'm 6'1") as it was raised quite a bit, if I remember rightly it struggled to get under the canopy at the hospital at the end of the journey.

Glad I'm not the only one who gets annoyed beyond reason by that - you don't say Escort Ford or 911 Porsche do you, so why does every fker get this wrong? To answer an earlier post yes the big yellow dog is the Dogs Trust mascot and I think there's a couple of them doing the rounds on the road. Also, I'm guessing the twin-engined Alfasud was built as a hillclimb car? Oh and the replica of "The Car" (a film so bad it's brilliant) has done the rounds at the shows for years - it's based on a Granada chassis.

Don't have the pics/video any more, but my dad used to know a friend of a friend who took an old Bentley racer and shoved a RR Merlin engine in it.
Sounded absolutely tremendous.
EDIT: Found some footage, this was the one I think...

Not the craziest, but my old Skyline use to get a few stares when I took it out.
Bought it as a track/drift car but used it as a daily driver for a few months. Sold it back in 2006 and when I look at it now I think what the fk was I thinking.
It did back up it's ridiculous looks as it was running 400bhp at the rear wheels, which wasn't bad for a GTST.
