VOIDED INSURANCE

A friend owns a body shop. They had an RS6 estate in last year which was hit head on by a bus. He was displaying an ABT badge on the back. When the assessor from the bus company viewed the car he wrote in his report that the car had been mapped. They refused to payout even after a read out from the ecu, aparantely there was no guarantee it wasn't changed back after the crash.
Sounds like these wkers are at it again. Fight it as this sounds like a scam. The chap who owned the rs6 paid £10k for the repair out of his own pocket.
That doesnt really support the OP's case Sounds like these wkers are at it again. Fight it as this sounds like a scam. The chap who owned the rs6 paid £10k for the repair out of his own pocket.
If he can he should get the car out of his insurer, get a couple of quotes and just claim off the bus company, who may want to just payout anyway

Did the 3rd parties insurance (the bus) avoid paying because the car may not have been standard? Or was it his insurance acting after seeing the other report from the bus company? I struggle to get the logic of what might or might not have happened after the crash. Could say the same about any car ever.

For £10k I'd take the ECU to Audi and ask them to run the checksum on it and provide proof. If he didn't do that he's a moron.Sounds like these wkers are at it again. Fight it as this sounds like a scam. The chap who owned the rs6 paid £10k for the repair out of his own pocket.

Or it was mapped and he knew he'd been caught out! But yes, for £10k you'd be fighting it a lot harder, unless the money is irrelevant and you've got bucketloads anyway!

Why would they refuse to pay out if the map or other modifications didn't have any bearing on the bus driver crashing into them?Sounds like these wkers are at it again. Fight it as this sounds like a scam. The chap who owned the rs6 paid £10k for the repair out of his own pocket.

Bus company wouldnt pay for his car. Not sure if they pursued him for damage to the bus. As far as im aware he didnt fight it and paid the bill himself. I would have fought it tooth and nail.I struggle to get the logic of what might or might not have happened after the crash. Could say the same about any car ever.

Alrite Folks, just a wee update. I sent the insurer the receipt at 12pm today and by 2pm we had agreed a payout sum. So thank you for your support and helping me what avenue I should go down with them because without it I would have been clueless and had a voided insurance. So thank you!!

This makes no sense. The bus company were the third party. The have no contract with the RS6 owner. So how can they refuse to pay a claim after hitting a car just because the car was chipped?Sounds like these wkers are at it again. Fight it as this sounds like a scam. Unless they thought the accident was the Audi driver's fault, in which case their refusal to pay was nothing to do with the chip, but because they didn't think their driver was negligent.

First of all, there is no contract between the RS6 owner and the bus company / their insurers. The bus driver is negligent, he caused damage to the RS6. Whether modified or not, the RS6 owner must be put back to his pre accident position. The fact that it was modified, has no bearing on the case whatsoever.
Even if the car was totally uninsured, if the bus hit it, the bus insurers must pay out.
There certainly is some crap bandied about on here.
