RE: New TVR Griffith - official
Discussion
Did they purposely set out to release awful, awful pictures of it?
"Right Lads, we need to knock their socks off - get a red one, surround it with lots and lots of artificial light so all the panels are awash with reflections, you know, the ones that make it almost impossible to actually see the shape of it and none of the details yeah - then trim out the background and replace it with a sort or grey nothingness - yeah, top job"

uncertain after seeing those photos - from behind looks a bit like an electric car
from the front it looks like a cartoon car from the 'cars' cartoon series of films...
Interior looks okay, but TVRs have always been a bit more 'wrap around snug' cockpits, whereas this looks almost too spacious...
will be good to see it in a more live setting

Looks suspiciously like a Ford keyless logo on the steering column. Ford engine, so possibly a Ford EPAS system?
I wouldn't be surprised if they've lifted the entire rack, EPAS and all, from something like the Mustang. not necessarily a bad thing if they do their own calibration. turbobungle said:
And at £90k, it's not going to do what TVR used to do by offering more performance for less money than it's 'rivals'. Shame.
Wont it? What conventional £90k rivals can get close to its power to weight ratio? The 911 C2S is heavier and less powerful. The Evora GT430 Sport is similar weight but less powerful and more expensive. The GTR is a bit more powerful but much heavier. The R8 is much more expensive.
400bhp/tonne for £90k is cheap.

Initial reaction somewhat underwhelmed. The rear wing is ridiculous, surely something more 'designed in' could be achieved. The overall styling has the right proportions but the details aren't quite there. Dropping headlights? Surely that went out with the Ford Scorpio.
Inside the interior looks like a bit of a miss: TVRs should feel premium and wild at the same time. This looks, well boxy and hard edged.
I've no doubt the performance and handling will be there. But without better styling and interior it won't be a 'have to have one even if it kills me' car...

Guys it is a Griffith and those were always conservatively styled compared to the rest of their lineup. Seems like everyone on here wanted a Sagaris.
This is a fair point. The Griffith was always (at least by TVR standards) a plain looking car. It was not, however, ugly. Edited by kambites on Friday 8th September 09:40

That maybe true but there was only one chance to relaunch TVR and if the styling of their first product needs explaining then the designer did a bad job.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
