I ran one of the first 3.2 V6’s from Nov 2003 to July 2005. An impulse purchase. The most disappointing car I’ve ever owned. Cramped interior and awful visibility not mitigated by numb heavy steering, harsh ride and lifeless handling. All show and no go.
Yes, the extra weight and box meant it tested slower than the early 1.8 225 - plus they didn't have the original car's handling f1nn said:
Well would you look at that...if you compare the autocar test results for the 1.8t 225 and the 3.2 V6 247, it's the smaller engined car that is quicker, before you add a remap.
The V6 was an auto, and no doubt a far nicer engine than the 20v to sit behind.
Both of them seem to have some of the most accurate speedos I've ever seen in those testsThe V6 was an auto, and no doubt a far nicer engine than the 20v to sit behind.
Only 3mph out at 130mph
Here's my one in 2001 on what is now part of the NC500, but it was just a great road back then

I scratched an itch for one of these last year and paid £1600 for a lovely show spec, Silver with Black leather 225 with a 120k on the clock.
Quite a few around at that price at the time but this one sold it's self to me as it was a 99 T reg. with no rear spoiler.
I've since read somewhere that the rear spoiler part of the Audi upgrade was optional on the re-called cars.
A year later and an extra 5k on the clock with about £300 in repairs... still smiling!

130,xxxGood guess
I’ve had the Cambelt done 4 times, regular oil and filter changes, rollbar bushes and shock absorbers. The soft top leaked into the boot progressively destroying the comfort control unit that does the roof and doors, managed to find a similar spec one on eBay and had it soldered back in, never got the remote central locking to work after that, dash pod is shot after being fixed twice.
Oh not forgetting lots and lots of tyres, I think it has had over 80.....
Will probably go terminally bang now, but it is my daily driver, all the plastics under the bonnet are a bit brittle, but still will happily munch miles at speed!
Not sure what I would replace it with, Quattro and winter tyres has got it through snow that had defeated many 4x4s, C4s is the only alternative that I fancy and there is a quite a cost to change!

Imo these cars are ruined by the most numb, lifeless steering ever bestowed upon a motor vehicle.
Very grippy as are Haldex cars in general, but also not fun at all as neither are Haldex cars in general.
I think they will be a sought after classic in 20 years though. My friend ia infatuated with his, he has had three 225s so far and currently has 2 QS's.

The QS’ steering feel is light years ahead of most current e steering set ups. Very grippy as are Haldex cars in general, but also not fun at all as neither are Haldex cars in general.

Looks lovely. Like I said, a future classic for sure but the steering really ruins the drive for me, the pole position seats are shockingly uncomfortable too but great for track use.
I agree re the seats. But the steering? If you’ve driven any new BMW, other than an i8, or any new Audi, including the TT, you’ll know what crap steering is all about. Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
