Yet. Only 600 of the 4.0, and you basically couldn’t buy them at £130K new. Unless Porsche liked you. NA 4.0 flat six making circa 500HP.

Just an old Porsche.

My bottom.
Isn’t there a 3.6 or 3.8 which was more widely available and basically pretty much the same. For the sake of 200 or 400c and six figures I might suggest that’s the one to get.

St4 can you please explain to the forum why you think your Lexus GS is 'better' that a 997.2 4.0 GT3 RS? We all understand that the definition of better is superior to. We don't need that explained. We'd like to understand what aspects of the Lexus you think outperform the Porsche

But the market is the market surely ?

As a chap said above one is either willing and able to participate in it or not.

I think some actual ownership and use is required at this point

Harrismonkey had one for a bit under a year - he used it quite a bit - it looked like fun to me...

p.s. whatever you say about the price, it's WAY less than a Singer and probably a safer place for your money (not that I'd say no to a Singer)

Again, you don't seem to grasp the concept of "classic". It may seem daft to you but maybe others have more money than you? And me for that matter.

Should someone only look to buy a central London flat at what it originally cost? Are they a schmuck too? Or perhaps the buyer of a 250 LM. I mean that car is really old so they must be a schmuck of the highest order.

You seem to have difficulty with the whole concept of value. And why what you may deem as poor value, others and the market may not.

As far as cars go, plenty of people think that older is invariably better, myself included.
After all, only a schmuck would buy a new car then get bent over with depreciation after all.

What is it that you drive...? Please enlighten us oh wise one.
Exactly. But no point arguing with somebody who plainly isn’t in the market for a 300k Porsche. For whatever reasons smile
Tell me about it!

And I salute you Sir - what a truly wonderful collection of cars you have. Enjoy in good health beer

But may I suggest you get a Lexus GS - that thing would make you realise what you have been missing in life. Apparently. smile

I’m too much of a schmuck to buy a Lexus smile

A question to those with real knowledge of these cars, how did the GT3 Club Sports differ from the RSs? Were they just GT3s with a roll cage and harnesses?

The gt3 clubsport is just a gt3 with the factory half roll cage option ticked in all of them from 996 to 991. The RS is a seperate (closely linked) model, typically a tiny bit lighter, wider track, wider tyres, a bit more track focused.

And having owned many 911s,but never a GT car, is the 997 RS too tortuous for mainly road use? Is a standard GT3 the better option?

Very strange advert, shouldn't the car be floating in the lake instead of being on dry land?
Different dealership, you’re thinking of Tom Hartley, this is Tom Hartley Jnr who has a lake on the other side of the garden fence but manages to sell some lovely cars without parking them on top of it.

The rs has more road noise as it's got less sound insulation but imo they are every bit as good on the road as the gt3 and not actually much if at all firmer/harsher. That said, the gt3, especially the 7.2 imo is an awfully nice car and hardly loses that much to the RS. Plus it doesn't carry the RS price premium (which may or may not make sense to each person).

Nothing like a Porsche GTx, Supra or GT86 post to stir things up on PH.

Still over list, still more than a McLaren, still only a 911.

Bare bones. It's a 911. They're a nice car but a six figure price tag for an oldish one is to my mind lunacy.
