Bad crash at my local boy racer meet

That’s horrific - what should be a car enthusiast event has seriously hurt 14 people (earlier posts indicate 2 dead and life changing injuries). Hopefully there is no deaths and everyone recovers in time.
No doubt this will bring down massive clampdowns by the police and local authorities. No one wants to see the same happening again
I don’t get the comments that people were blocking the Toyotas view. Well if you drive a car you don’t pull out blind you ensure you can see period.
The Nissan driver - if that road was. a 40mph it’s very clear he was travelling significantly faster than that through crowd lined road with 3 junctions (the one where the incident happened then the entry and exit of that petrol station).
If the Nissan was doing 40, the Toyota would have pulled out and sped up. The Nissan would have maybe hit the brakes and the accident wouldn't have occurred. No doubt this will bring down massive clampdowns by the police and local authorities. No one wants to see the same happening again

It’s a relief it seems there are no deaths. Utter bell ends, with the NHS left to pick up the pieces. Hopefully it will be a lesson for them. Can’t see any insurance company paying out.
Would the event organisers, 'Cruise-Herts' according to the BBC, be culpable to some degree?Phil Dicky said:
Would I be correct in thinking Inciting Dangerous Driving could be applied to the spectators? Perhaps not a bad offence for the Police to pursue, may make these events a little safer.
Yes. Example: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-39975755matjk said:

Lucky there weren't any deaths given the driving on show.https://youtu.be/kZp4TXHhpBo
As you said earlier could have been much worse given the "usual" activities of that drag meet !

It’s utterly shameful that these kind of events, on public roads, can be allowed to happen on a regular basis. A lack of police resources is undoubtedly, IMO, a contributory factor here.
Resources or priorities? Wonder why they don’t send a camera van (although it would not be well received). It's always the dumb fks who ruin everything because they are too stupid to be let out on their own. A woman was killed at an event like this in Manchester just over a year ago. Last week leaving Oulton Park (Tunerfest) the morons were stood outside the gates filming people leaving the event. I don't know what is the most tragically pathetic, standing there desperately wanting people to wheel spin out of the gate so you can post it onto social media that nobody cares about, or actually doing the wheel spin, and being filmed doing something illegal on a public road so that some saddo can put it on the internet.
If car culture wants to survive people with a brain need to separate and become differentiated from these amoebas as fast as possible.

Wow , people got pretty decent sentences for watching , seems like a catch 22 , people drive like idiots , people watch, more people drive like idiots , more watch etc , etc .
In the Stevenage example the KFC stayed open latter and had extra staff to coupe with the “spectators” financially benefiting from it .
I’d say if they did go after spectators in this case then the police need to take some of the blame for not stopping it .
They used lack of resources and blamed the council recently for not taking action but there where plenty of police available after the accident

Something was always going to happen there. Hopefully all involved make good recoveries. Could have been a lot worse, and I'm sure this will have further action from authorities in regards to meets, which will affect all car enthusiasts.https://youtu.be/kZp4TXHhpBo
There's a culture of people lining the exits of many car meets that could do with being reduced, in my opinion.

The powers that be in that area, just need to be incentivised to do it.

Two dead apparently. There’s a lot of chatter about it on the Reading Jap Meet group as the same problem with crowds on the exit happens. They group right on the exits and anyone leaving can’t see to their right for traffic approaching.
It a terrible thing to happen but really people should know better than to stand 2 feet from a road with people doing 70mph+.
Darwinism at its finest, as harsh as that may sound..It a terrible thing to happen but really people should know better than to stand 2 feet from a road with people doing 70mph+.
