Ordered a white one. I know what I'm letting myself in for as it'll be replacing my somewhat knackered Mitsubishi I-MiEV that I've been blatting about in for the last eight years. That too is rear-wheel drive, turns on a sixpence, costs hardly anything to run and goes like stink off the line. Only trouble is it's now down to a range of less than 30 miles with the heating on
And they were £35k new
What happens to your old one? I can't see a dealer putting a new battery pack in it or is that what they will do?And they were £35k new

I'd hoped for a sort of e-Jazz, not some mobile games console. This is meant to be a short-trip city car. Rip out the wood, screens, Honda AI, trick cameras. Add a phone dock and half the price.
I imagine most of the cost is within the battery modules. They’re either taking the piss with the pricing, specifically don’t want huge demand because production is all a bit inefficient at present or their low numbers and low demand just simply means the economies of scale for churning out cheap city cars doesn’t yet exist.
I think it looks great and range isn't a concern if it replaces our 14yo MINI Cooper which is the car we use to bimble 3 miles to the office and back.
I feel more inclined to go the whole hog though - an ipace or e-tron, for instance, could replace the long-distance diesel Disco Sport and do the MINI's bimbling as well. Replacing two cars in one fell swoop.

I think these look bloody brilliant - can't understand the hatred for it. It's an interesting, distinctive piece of exterior styling that screams Honda japanese-ness. The interior is a clever, modern design, and it absolutely nails the brief of a small, city-EV that could be a 2nd or 3rd household car (surely a PH staple?)

Surely the Ford Fiesta is the city car that absolutely nails the brief as at dirt cheap, completely unrestricted in usage and totally fire and forget as a third car. Which arguably goes towards explaining why it’s the biggest selling car in the UK. Where is the law that states because the engine is electric the dash must resemble some tat from the 80s?
For a small city car you just want simplicity, cheapness and convenience. While this looks like it will be a bit of fun to drive and certainly is a nice looking car the only brief that it absolutely nailed is to be hugely expensive, hugely compromised and with an interior that looks like someone at Leyland let Clive Sinclair loose on a Metro.
I think these are great and I could see a pre-owned one in my life a few years from now. It’s such a cool gadget.
I currently have a petrol Golf for my 6 mile each way commute to and from the railway station. The Golf barely gets the oil up to temperature. The Honda would fill that brief beautifully and can have a weekly battery charge at the weekend whilst I use my 2x V8’s and 1x V12 instead.
I assume electric cars can produce instant cabin heat? That would be awesome on these Winter nights.

I use the mobile to tell my i3 what time i’m leaving and it will pre heat the battery, warm the cabin and defrost the windows. All I do is unplug and drive off.
Great on these cold winter mornings.
That is brilliant. The i3 is the only other alternative I have thought about (small and premium feel).Great on these cold winter mornings.
Something like this would be absolutely ideal as a second car in our household, we live in the suburbs of a big city and have a driveway for off road parking but 32k! Really??
I'm not an electric car nut at all but the wife would happily run to work and back in one and drive the kids around.
I look forward to a manufacturer at some point coming out with a reasonably priced electric city car and no doubt they will clean up in the market, this isn't the answer though.

Shortly before they go bust from the losses. Making electric cars is still expensive. I'm not an electric car nut at all but the wife would happily run to work and back in one and drive the kids around.

Odds are it will be a Chinese maker, there are so many of them making a large number of models in China already, the MG ZS is already the best value EV by some margin and a pretty decent 5 ncap star crossover for the moneyBYD have already sold 50k electric bus's!!

EV's are expensive. If you want to save the planet, dig deep. Greta will thank you.I'm not an electric car nut at all but the wife would happily run to work and back in one and drive the kids around.
