Resurrecting this thread as I've almost lost it with my Chevy Cruze.

1.6 petrol. Can be sluggish, hesitant and it misfires not when idling believe it or not, but on occasion after releasing the throttle.

Fully serviced recently, MAP sensor changed, ignition coil changed, spark plugs changed, new battery yesterday, new thermostat and new header tank (and already noticing a brown misting on the sides of it..possible dreaded head gasket).

The result: 254 miles range stated last time I filled up. I've now got just under a quarter of a tank and a range of about 74 miles. Admittedly the driving has been urban, but 254 miles' range is a travesty.

No lights on the dashboard either. Any thoughts?

3.0 S-Type displays 400. In reality, 250 max. That is down to the driving style though.

Borrowed my old man's V70 D5 and managed almost 700 actual miles on a tank. That's more to do with the huge tank than MPG.

Going slightly O/T, my Mrs' Clio will display the range and count it down in 1 mile increments - until you get to 30 miles remaining then you get a - - - message.

So when you actually need to know your range for avoiding running out of fuel purposes, it is of no help. And, yes, she has more than once.

Do 330e's have a tiny fuel tank? I got better range out of my Rx8!

On second thoughts I think I'm remembering wrong, think the Rx8 did about 200 miles to a tank

That’s 28mpg for a 70-litre/15.5gal tank. Good enough in my book for a fully-laden family wagon being hauled by a 6.2-litre V8…

To be fair, usual range is around 420km/260mi which is more like 17-18mpg

I had to drive a brand new cruze for work once I thought it was faulty it was so bad.
I think they must have some weirdness in the throttle control, when I lift my right foot to change gear it's a good 1sec before throttle actually slacks off so with clutch in it kept revving. It felt like a carb engine that needed linkages or cables lubed!

My previously owned Prelude would stretch to ~300 miles per 45 litre tank, but normally much less because who's hypermiling a Prelude? not me.

My current Skoda Rapid Spaceback 1.6TDI indicated 920 miles from a 55 litre tank, fully loaded, on a journey from Southampton to Ullapool and I fully believe it as we finished the trip without refuelling. Normally I get between 600 and 700 miles per tank which is mighty alright with me as I do a lot of driving in central Southampton!

i30N usually starts around 300 when I pull away from the pump. In reality, I usually see about 250-260. I've only seen over 300 once (refilled at 320 with 25 miles remaining) and that was a long motorway run, staying under 80.

It does feel like that at times. Also between gears 1 and 2 there seems to be a delay, even depressing the clutch sometimes, causing the gear stick to feel and sound like it's being pulled out.

I purchased this as a £500 shed late in May. Car taken in as PX. No service history, been stood months, mouldy interior, knackered battery etc.

Dealt with main issues, but on the understanding that it's simply an Astra J in different clothing, I would've thought the fuel economy and range would've been far better than what I've been getting. 250 miles of range even by late 2000s standards is a disgrace.

I mean even 300 miles per tank for urban driving shouldn't be unreasonable in my opinion.

480 Miles

S6 Avant V8 TFSI

And if you could keep it in 4cyl mode it could probably do it. Reality is more likely 350-400.

My S5 always says 390-400 when I fill up but it's almost always 300 when I'm pulling in for a refuel. Mostly driven quite sedately other than the odd blast.

My S Class has a 90 litre tank, will show about 450-500 miles on initial fill up.

If I drive down to pick up my daughter which is 120 miles, where it's warmed up and done a decent average speed, it will be showing 750 miles left in the tank. I'd be pretty confident it would do that to a tank even if it's ambitious it would do 850-900 miles.

Cactus will do about 550 miles to a 45 litre tank.
Giulietta does around 600 I think.

Saab 1.9 TiD - seen it as high as 825 miles when full.

I've averaged 48/49 mpg over the last 15,000 miles. (we do a lot of motorway though.)

Shocking range as my i8 only has a 42 litre tank.
Average 35mpg around town on mix of hybrid modes so fill it up often.
