RE: Order books open for all-new Defender 90
Discussion
As the sort of shallow tawt who mostly judges motor vehicles by their looks and has an almost pathological dislike of pseudo off road vehicles...
..I quite like it. That is I like the way it looks. Chunky.
Value for money is horrendous but then I don't need one and won't be buying one. But it is an interesting piece of design.

Quite a few of them still do but with so much plastic on display I can't see a new Defender being used in the same way. Old Defenders wear battle scars well and parts can be replaced cheaply. That will not apply to the new one. I haven't seen one in the flesh but there seems to be a lot of bodywork that can get mangled - there aren't any metal bumpers that I can see unless some of that "plastic" is actually metal
Yes because its well known how cheap metal is compared to plastic?90 configurator now live. I think it looks rather nice with small wheels and sans 'Gerry' panel.

The notion that farmers will buy one and use it around the land is laughable - farmers haven't used Defenders for years and years.![rofl](/inc/images/rofl.gif)

I'm not in the market so whether I personally like it or not (I do) is neither here nor there.

Yes because its well known how cheap metal is compared to plastic?I'm not in the market for this type of thing but I quite like the look of it. It's was always going to be difficult/nigh on impossible to follow the original Defender.
I have a strong feeling that this new model has objectively moved upmarket but, perversely, away from the classless, idiosyncratic, and timeless nature of the original. £40k base does seem very strong.

Yes, indeed, it is well known how cheap a metal bumper is compared to plastic....https://www.paddockspares.com/ntc4657-front-bumper...
£43.89 for a replacement bolt on bumper for the original defender.
