I am a big LR fan, but £40 grand, for a base SWB model no way!! And it has very poor interior space and roof hight compared to a 90.

As the sort of shallow tawt who mostly judges motor vehicles by their looks and has an almost pathological dislike of pseudo off road vehicles...

..I quite like it. That is I like the way it looks. Chunky.

Value for money is horrendous but then I don't need one and won't be buying one. But it is an interesting piece of design.

Quite a few of them still do but with so much plastic on display I can't see a new Defender being used in the same way. Old Defenders wear battle scars well and parts can be replaced cheaply. That will not apply to the new one. I haven't seen one in the flesh but there seems to be a lot of bodywork that can get mangled - there aren't any metal bumpers that I can see unless some of that "plastic" is actually metal
Yes because its well known how cheap metal is compared to plastic?

Excellent. I give it a month before the gentle hill to my daughter’s school is chock full of the munters.
But what about Defenders?

90 configurator now live. I think it looks rather nice with small wheels and sans 'Gerry' panel.

The notion that farmers will buy one and use it around the land is laughable - farmers haven't used Defenders for years and years. rofl

I'm pretty sure Landrover will happily sacrifice 500 sales to farmers who will buy it then keep it running for 20 years in order to sell to 5000 yummy mummies who will chop in for a new one every 3 years. And good for them, I hope they succeed.
I'm not in the market so whether I personally like it or not (I do) is neither here nor there.

I'm not likely to be a future customer but I do like the product, the configurator made it look mightily impressive, the different seat layouts, the jump seat etc will all be popular. I'd also be tempted to think the commercial versions will be a big hit if priced correctly, looks so cool imho

Now that one I like very much. The wheels transform it.
Agreed.

I'm normally immune to fashion cars but I really like this. Don't need one but if I was in the market for a 4x4 then this would be it. And a thorough scrutiny of the warranty.

I'm not in the market for this type of thing but I quite like the look of it. It's was always going to be difficult/nigh on impossible to follow the original Defender.

I have a strong feeling that this new model has objectively moved upmarket but, perversely, away from the classless, idiosyncratic, and timeless nature of the original. £40k base does seem very strong.

I see that there are some options that they think every modern LR may need, such as a set of jump leads for £142.00 (not a typo) and a towing strap (that's only £73) - at least the warning triangle is only £25.

Nice of them to think about these things !

Nope - got so fed up with the reliability of the L322 that I never bought another LR product !
