"Its proportions remain pleasing though..."

Strongly disagree.

It has that same, weird looking, blobbishness to it and the rear end doesn't gel with the front. It's on par with the vile little 1 series coupe that they made. Not a nice looking thing at all.

I quite like it, but then its a really, really great colour, how is it there are all those boring monochrome cars out there and hardly any purple ones, purple is an awesome colour.

It will be mental fast, and then get further tuning, will have the traction to match being 4wd but I suspect it may be a little bit boring despite the performance like most modern BMW's, but very good in many ways,

Dont mind the looks, the rear arches have a hint of 1M, and I expect it will look better in the flesh.

Although it's ridiculously heavy, I expect that it'll be a hoot to drive and looks like one of those cars that will look fantastic in the metal despite a little awkwardness in some of the pics. I love the bold direction with the body sculpting.

Makes the M3/M4 look positively cohesive. What an absolute mess.

BMW really are making some fking horrendous looking cars at the moment. I don't care what it drives like, I couldn't have that thing sitting outside my house, it would give me nightmares.

Sounds a bit dramatic Jon. Cars are not purely objective purchases, particularly when it comes to looks and design, which surely are subjective anyway. If someone likes the look of it, I can see why they would buy it and why they would think that, to their eyes, BMW are making good looking cars at the moment. Or that it's not even a binary proposition and that they make some good looking ones (I like the Z4, X5 and the M3/M4) and some less appealing ones.

That must be why I quite like it in that case. Not 100% sold on the back, like the rest of it though.

Shame it's lost the 'Angel Eyes' LED running lights, I love them on my current '2'

I had a 125i M Sport. When it came out it looked weird. A few years down the line I thought it looked fantastic. And then now 5 years later I think it still looks stunning in a timeless sort of way.

I like it. Bonnet bulge and big arches? Yes please. Press shots these days make everything look crap anyway and things always look better on the road.

And it should be usefully quicker over a stretch of road than any of the hot hatch brigade and previous M2s probably.

People moan about wanting specific specs then don't buy them.

In fairness I believe it was your posts and feedback which resulted in me ending up in a 125i also. Given I still have it 7 years later, I really am struggling to disagree with you smile

3 & 4 Series design team: We have just created the worst looking BMW of all time.

Excellent. It's probably worth almost as much as you paid for it 7 years ago too.

We were looking for a car for my son last month and that was on the list but recent prices ruled it out. I even contacted the buyer of mine but to no avail. We ended up with a Clio RS 200 in the end...

I know we always hate when new models come out by I feel pretty comfortable my OG M2 value should remain strong after seeing this. It is very boxy and not a pretty car. I know time will tell but I cant see this outselling the F87. Interior finally up to spec though.

So many people complaining that it's AWD and auto. Well maybe if people had actually bought the RWD cars in manual, they might have continued.

Instead it's just the internet car people wailing that they want a manual, but only in 3yrs when it's depreciated. It doesn't work that way, fools.
Its a good point tbf.

The back of that car is very unpleasant indeed. What with this and the front of the 4 Series, it seems BMW can only do one nice end at a time.

The rear of this car looks like it was left in the oven too long.... Clumsy styling.

What an absolute shame. Current M2/M2C looks inherently "right" - this looks cack-handed and clumsy.
