No doubt it'll be an absolute weapon on typical UK roads, especially when wet.

But honestly this horsepower race when it's getting harder and harder to use now seems pretty pointless.

Great looking car. Any Bradford comments yet?

One must be prepared to dominate the stairs with one of these on the drive, I feel.

Just a very expensive Golf really!
VAG, BMW and Mercedes seem to have morphed into one the last couple of years.

It’s pretty much a case of choosing the badge / monthly cost that you want these days. There doesn’t seem to be a huge amount between them these days.

?
It's got the same amount of horsepower as it's predecessor.

In terms of looks it's an improvement, the previous generation looked a bit bland.

Love rs3’s but can’t decide if I like this yet, will have to see it in the flesh.

Always preferred the hatch but the saloon looks better with this shape imo

It seems that all cars now are coming with the sides already stoved in, no need to go to a car park and wait for mums and kids to pile out the SUV and smash your car with their doors.

Thats where the car ends up after you have had your door kicked in and failed in attempts to dominate the stairs.

Can't wait to get undertaken in Bradford by a dark blue one with black wheels and black trim and a gel 4D numberplate

I usually prefer a hatchback, but that looks really good to my eyes in saloon form.

I only came on to say it looks like a civic.
Then I went in to the “dominate the stairs” thread. Brilliant laugh out loud funny. laugh

While I agree a golf r, s3, amg35, bmw135i are very similar in cost, performance etc, the RS model has always been a rung above and the 2.5 five is a proper usp. You pay a hefty premium of course...plus it won’t sound as good as the pre opf 8vs

Have to agree. To me the hatch has gone backwards in design with this latest incarnation looking a bit fussy. Would need to see on in the flesh before final judgement.

How does it compare in size, speed and technology to the B7 RS4?

I really miss my one of those, and would like to find something similar again.

Not an Audi man at all, but these looks pretty good to me. Both the hatch and saloon are quite pretty, and the estate is OK just they aren't really my thing. I can well imagine it being a scrote magnet though.

180mph in a hot hatch is just crazy.
I think that top speed is pretty much irrelevant these days, and is only good for Top Trumps bragging rights.
Acceleration is much more important, and actually usable.

I really like the look of these, and I can't think of any other five-cylinder car currently in production (aside from the equivalent TT of course).

If you're being undertaken then you're probably in the wrong lane! laugh
