That has to be one of the most brutal German designs since the Führer popped his ledderhosen, X5 was never a looker but this is one fugly SUV. Looks like the Bentayga has some competition for biggest and ugliest, well done BMW :-p
The first few generations of X5 were pretty good looking cars, the current one is pretty grim though with the grille making the front end look really ungainly.Brought to you by the styling house of Wonder & Charles.
But I’m sure even Stevie and Ray could have done better to be honest.
I’d rather be seen wearing nothing but lime green budgie-smugglers and sporting a set of ‘Billy-Bob teeth’ whilst driving in a Ssangyong Rodius than within a country mile of this.

It's very reminiscent of a Velar from the side. The rear diffuser seems a tad optimistic, it's going to be way too heavy to ever lift off the ground surely? The power train might be interesting when it gets used in a different platform, I wonder which V8 it uses? The engine in the M550i is already a stonking thing if it's that one and a massive dose of electrification will will make it hyper, if a little unnecessary.
Finally finally BMW have reached the bottom, took a while but we are there, after the M3/4 it can't go any lower on the design front the only way is up from here........isn't it?
At least they didn't waste much time on the design, take an X7 and batter the st out of it with an ugly stick.

How sad. I feel more and more disconnected with the way the industry is going as a whole. I don't, for a second, think that we should be moving away from the current internal combustion engine but design has gone to hell. All the good cars have already been made, tell me I'm wrong. I'll enjoy the classics whilst we phase away from enthusiast cars to tech cars that satisfy the next generation who have zero interest in old engineering.

That's clever marketing. They released the Lego version before the actual car!

This is what happens when you leave designers completely alone in a sealed room... for years. What on earth has "that" got to do with M cars? It looks like a schoolboys scribble fantasy. What on earth were they thinking? no, wait, who cares...
That just about sums it up. Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
