Got to say that the issue was sublime, hopefully they can keep it up and the adverts down.

Thanks for this. Sounds great.

On a related note, I popped in to WH Smith's at lunch and they had LOADS of copies of issue 1 left.

Um, if you want the content to go up, advertising needs to go up. Unlike some of the more prolific inhabitants of the City and the South East, us magazine bods don't need six figure salaries to make us get by - but all the same we must make a living and it's not coming from the £3.95 you pay at the counter...

Unless it's sponsored by a club, institution, association or brand, the # of pages in a magazine is based on a pre-determined split between editorial content and advertising, mostly in the region of 60:40. Sometimes the sales bods have a bad week/month and us editors are called in to do some last minute filling of empty spaces wink - obviously if this is structural, the mag either gets thinner or disappears long-term...

Its Evo-lite, so I'll stick to the full strength version.

After the reasonably inspired choice of cars in the first issue, this looks just like every other mag's selection. Coupled with the average journalism I suspect issue 2 will be the last I'll buy.

Evo without the Shell adverts and self congratulation?

I'm in.
There are actually next to no adverts in this issue which comes as a very pleasant suprise!
Sadly that's just because, as a new launch, they haven't got the readership/proof of circulation to make a good sales pitch to advertisers yet. If the mag. is successful (attracts a growing readership) it will carry more and more ads. It HAS to - the cover price doesn't pay for any mag. these days.

Nah. Same 237 bhp 2.0, but with revised suspension & diff I think (not read it yet).

So the only old/sub-£20k cars are the E39 M5 (which has been done to death in other mags) and the ITR (which has been done to death... etc). I'm not impressed by how far they've already deviated from their modus operandi.

I don't remember PC magazine themselves actually saying that they would only be focusing on sub £20k cars, I think it was only people on here saying that?

Not got a copy to hand, but I'm pretty certain that that is exactly what they said in the Editor's comments at the start.

Just re-read the editors comments and it says affordable but nowhere does it mention £20k?

It's time for a nice revvy 3.5 V6 350 brake S3500 . . .

Edit for accuracy wink of course you're right . . . I refer to the Yank V6 Honda :cough: Acura uses in the States.

SO the wrong word to use when referring to a performance Honda. Light, agile, focused. These are all good words to use!!! biggrin

I'd settle for a nice 2500cc I-5 or 3000cc I6 (that sort of area, anyway) in an updated S2000-style (and most-importantly size and weight) body. With an optional coupe version also, a-la Z4. Still kicking out at least 100bhp/litre, and weighing no more than 1,300kg, you'd be looking at the fun side of 200bhp/tonne (even the 350Z isn't quite there)!

I got the second issue today also. A good read again for me, the diesel coupe test was pretty good, although I'm probably only saying that as I'm a bit of a closet fan for that 1 Series Coupe.

Readership must be taking off, there are now 15 members on the facebook group I started.

Oh and hello to Mr Jobson posting in this thread, long time no see!
