Mine torque-steered like a mo-fo originally but after a 4 wheel alignment, I never had any trouble again, even with a 150hp upgrade.

The car was also a fking pain to start when it was hot due to boiling its fuel, but we didn't suffer the problem anything like as much on French petrol. frown
Did you ever try the anti-percolation kit?

We had one of the early cars and i think we might have sold ours before they'd figured out how to cure it. I think some mod or other was fitted by the dealers but i really can't recall now.

My brother owned an F-plate, in pearl white back in the mid 90's. It was std and put around 80k on the clock. At the same time, I owned a G-reg 205 1.9 GTI. Have to say, the turbo lag on the R5 was appauling, but in a unique way was quite special.. I don't think I would want to own an R5 as the quality was terrible, overheating, seats collapsing etc.... I would however get another Pug. They were just so good for their time..

I've never found the turbo lag to be an issue on these cars but I guess that's because I've driven it for 3 years.

Did seem to make it better for hot starting.
Also, wrapping the clutch cable in heat resistant sleeve prolonged the life somewhat. Stopped the shroud melting and becoming a 'tight spot ' on the cable

so did anyone own an original Dimma design one, and have any pics smile
My friend Ian had an original Skeete one...

First R5GTT to be EFI too.
Hi do you have anymore pics of your mate Ian’s Renault 5 mate?
Think I may be purchasing that exact one.

Thanks
