isnt this a diesel
3.2 V6I drove an Insignia yesterday...it was the typical rep-spec version, but it wasn't the hateful pile of dog mess that some like to make out (probably so they can feel better about having a 105BHP poverty-spec Audi A4 diesel in rainy-day grey).
Personally, I like the rear styling a lot. It's the front that isn't quite as successful in my eyes (it's a bit fat and the grille doesn't do anything to disguise it) - still, it's more interesting than an Avensis and not properly ugly like a 407. Interior-wise...what's wrong with it? It feels well-built and certainly no worse than a VW Passat.
My main problem with most of the cars that are being designed at the moment: They're almost all heavy, underperforming, unexciting front-wheel-drive boxes that all drive pretty much identically (lots of grip, but when you overcome it, they just understeer whilst the ESP tries to neutralise it).
That's why the AWD versions of the Insignia interest me more than the competition. - Although it's a Haldex system, if you have "sport" mode engaged, it sends 60% of the power and torque to the rear. A slight RWD bias then. Like the new A4.
The basic car probably isn't as nice as the new shape A4, but you do get more for your money.- I'd rather have a 220BHP 2.0 Turbo 4x4 Insignia than a 120BHP 2.0 A4 with FWD.
I hear what some of you are saying about residuals...but consider this: the Alfa 159 is actually doing pretty well judging by the prices on Autotrader!

I would. It's not the fastest car (with that sort of power and traction I was expecting a little bit more from it) and it will have all the toys. I think the standard Insignia looks very poor, too fat and bloated not purposeful like the Mazda 6 or Citroen C5 (the best looking of the saloon cars at the moment). People who are going "30k for a Vauxhall! Madness!", are missing the point.
If it works well, and importantly for Vauxhall gets a good write up, then I can see it selling rather well. Not flying out of the showrooms by any means but maybe someone looking at a VXR8 but wanting something less thirsty and a bit more comfortable will look at it. I for one like the look of the interior in this car, and dont like the interiors of Audi's.
If I had £30k+ and kids and I was in the market for a new car then this would certainly be on my list.
fk the depreciation!

iv seen the standard insignia in the flesh and id say it doesn't look half as bad as some of you guys make it. It fits in very well with its competitors although for £30k id look at a second hand Audi S4 (shush about the cant compare new with second hand argument plz because if you were actually in the market for a car like this you'd look at 2nd hand options as well.)

That car fell out of the ugly tree and got hit by every branch on the way down. Then the ugly tree fell on it. And then some rednecks came along, chopped the ugly tree up and sodomised the car with every bit of the chopped up tree.
At which point the ugly tree took fright to being seen in bed with such a fugly car and promptly ran for the woods.c0ldpl4ya said:

The chances are that if you were in the market for this that it would HAVE to be new. Thats the point.Sure there will be the odd private buyer, but by far and away this is aimed at company car drivers who will lease the thing, and will have to choose from a set list of manufacturerers. Private buyers know that this has the potential to depreciate like a rock, and will generally stay away from it.
Ergo, you;re talking bks
For the record I quite like the car, but since I'm not on lease any ore from a restricted list, there is no way I could put my own money in it.
