The responses to SG Sportscars from some of these posters seem a bit bizarre - he's only made a quip about MX-5s....this doesn't really warrant calling him a d*ck etc and calling his business into question. Lighten up guys!
Back on the MX-5 topic perhaps...?

Unfortunately, whether the poster likes it or not, he is representing his business at all times, especially if he is posting on a car forum and has his URL's in his profile. His other posts have been in a similar vain as DtM said, so he is doing more than expressing an opinion, he is expressing an opinion that is tangibly tied to his business (even if that opinion is a tired old cliche and should really be ignored).Back on the MX-5 topic perhaps...?

I don't think Dennis overstepped the mark for a Mod, the poster has hints of troll.
Back on topic, and back to being a cracked record, the differences between a poorly setup (geo) MX5 and a properly set up MX5 are night and day, which I personally think explains why some people don't 'get' them. Mine was terrible initially, truly awful, but after being setup it was transformed, night and day.

I agree he's representing his business, but not that the name-calling is warranted - PH seems to be so agro at the moment.Red Firecracker said:

If this is the case then the discussion should then be held off-thread, not as a badly worded threat. Red Firecracker said:

Yup, an often under-recognised aspect of car maintenance. My first Chimaera felt massively nervous all the time when pressing on, and it was only when I test drove and bought a replacement Chimaera that was far better I realised it must have been due to poor setup and they weren't all like that! There's a lot to be said for small cars that arent particularly fast, but are fun to drive. Great being able to drive enthusiastically yet safely and without being in license-losing territory within a few seconds!

Since I'm considering one of these over the next year or so I'll follow this with interest. Looks to be easily worth what you paid for it. A proper PH shed. Be sure to do a few reports on it before you sell it on. The hardest part about owning this shed I'd imagine will be watching someone else drive it away when it comes time to sell it.
Well done guys and prepare to be inundated with 'hairdresser' comments
Wifey's friend has just bought a newish MX5 and her 1.6 R reg is now for sale. Value ? Roof leaks a bit, the rear window is yellow and cracked, and the electric windows don't. 12 months MOT. Green. What would be fair ? I might make an offer. Well done guys and prepare to be inundated with 'hairdresser' comments
Personally, I wouldnt respect anyones opinion of cars if the best criticism they can come up with of an MX-5 is that "its a girls car".
If you would rule a car out on that criteria, then you are denying yourself the pleasure of some of the best drivers cars around, because a lot of the most fun cars are a little bit "cute" anyway.
I certainly didnt buy mine to pose in, but I think it looks quite good in a "classic" car kind of way, but theres nothing "girly" about the way it drives (especially when supercharged )

I'm currently getting rid (voulentary termination of finance) of my EP3 CTR and I've been hankering for an MX5 after looking round for cheap fun cars. Shall I do it?
Yes, do it!I went from an ITR DC2 to a supercharged Mk1 RS-Ltd (see above post).
The ITR was a fantastic car, and if I could, I'd still have one around, but this thing is in another league as a drivers car (although without the supercharger, maybe not quite).
Yes they are cheap to run (example, a Toyo T1R 195/50/15 tyre costs £28!). Very reliable. Very raw. Very pure drive. And top down motoring is wonderful. Every petrol head should experience top down motoring, and RWD handling in their life at some point and this lets you tick both boxes for the price of a cheap holiday!
