Sadly car makers don't make cars for 'just' the UK. You cant please all of the people all of the time.
not that i have that sort of money. but i think its downright ugly,
if i wanted a 4x4 i would buy a landrover, just think of what the pig st would do to that interior not that it will be capable of going off road.
im sure many will love it, but i think its truly awful what it drives like is immaterial an m5 is always going to be better as is an m3,

You know that feeling you get when you first sit in a new car, the one when you think 'oh this feels good' or 'no this isn't right', well, when I sat in the X5M and X6M I was underwhelmed. They don't feel special enough, not sufficiently different from their regular siblings. Normally an M feels 'better' somehow. So perhaps BMW are making loss leaders on purpose, filling yet another niche in their quest to produce every conceivable car we never knew we needed.

I don't particularly care for it one way or the other, but it has no business being compared with a 2 wheel drive vehicle. Regardless of how capable it is as a 4x4, it is going to be far superior to a 2 wd vehicle on slippery roads. I like the X6 but I'm not sure about this 'M'.
I keep looking at alternative 4x4s to my P38 Range Rover, the Toureg V10 is silly cheap at the moment, the disco' just isn't quite right and the Range Rover sport... But I keep coming back to the Range Rover, it's an amazing piece of kit, gentleman's club on wheels with all the capability to go anywhere. So why would you 'waste' so much money on the X6M?
As has been said before it does appear that MB and BMW are trying to create niche markets, to varying degrees of success.
So, whilst typing this I've been thinking would I buy the X6M, if I had the money, yes if it could tow my track car as effortlessly as my Rangie does, oh and it must be capable of running on LPG, the only viable way to run one of these laviathons without being a merchant banker - and I'm not that desperate.
I'm pleased BMW are making it, in the same way I was pleased that the HumVee was available to the public, or that the LM002 ever existed, we need extremes in everything in order to measure what goes between them.

My feeling is that it is the M-badge that seems to offend most people about the X5M and the X6M.
Had BMW continued the 'is' moniker, as used on the X5 4.6is and X5 4.8is, I can imagine these cars getting cracking reviews.
For someone who wants a comfortable long distance, all weather (read 4WD), vehicle with the added benefit of a high driving position, I believe this vehicle ticks all the boxes. The X6M makes as much sense to me as an RS4 or RS6 and is on a par with the Cayenne Turbo and ML63. As for it being only 4-seats, have any of the moaners actually tried to fit 3 adults across the back seat of a performance sedan or SUV? Unless 2 out of the 3 are waif models, it isn't a comfortable experience; therefore, 2 seats in the rear will never be an issue for me.
