The Turbo has always left me cold, I'll have a GT3 thanks, in Orange.
Agreed on the Turbo leaving me feeling cold & remote. Fast and comfortable and so stable at high speed, yet so dull to drive fast. The GT3 has always left me feeling, well, brown! That back end likes to jiggle around a little bit too much for my liking, especially downhill under heavy braking. The bull in the road didn't help matters much.
In a way, I wish they would un-engineer this car a little and give it some faults / character back. Oh, and perhaps shoehorn a flat 8 into the middle

Fell asleep in all the excitement of yet another 911........yawn.
HUH? You fell asleep? I was rendered unconscious in a vegetative state after reading news that another Porsche 911 variant is being updated .I think I remember the article stating that the headlights are 0.000000098% larger than those on the the 2009 turbos S coupe and the air conditioner compression motor produces an extra 0.0016 Nm of torque at sea level, AMAZING NEWS!Andy

Seriously This is just a pathetic face saving attempt by the German car company to build a 911 that's faster than a sub £56k 2010 Nissan spec GT-R. For £130,000 i could buy GT-R, cayman S and a Golf gti instead of this mutated Volkswagen beetle with its Nazi sponsored origins from WWII . German efficiency and innovation is only matched by the Japanese so why do they insist on being second best trying to perfect this outdated rear engined relic?
Could you imagine that not the "rear engined relic" is outdated but your mentioning of Nazi is?Why do so many comments on here refer to some Nazi stuff? And everytime to vilify either the Germans or German cars, designed vehicles, technology. As long as I follow gassing station I have never ever read a comment mentioning the british behaviour in the famine catastrophe. I will not compare Nazi crimes to other crimes, but I think Pistonheads doesn't provide a platform for both.

yeah, un-engineer it about 20 years to the old 3.2 Carrera, pure brilliance without all the tecky gizmo's needing to be actually driven, and not 'driven in', by a host of computers??

I think that this car will be far more capable than the GT-R in the real world, especially on our B-roads. I've seen plenty of vids showing 997.1 TT's beating GT-R's on the road. On top of this, the reliability of the 911 will undoubtedly be better, with no ridiculous transmission bills. Alternatively, owners can get the GTR's revised LC - which is limited to 3000rpm (I think). This won't be touching the 997.2 TTS in the acceleration department!
In addition, there is some disappointment as PDK is the only trannsmission available. However; think about all of the GT-R's computing, and of course it's DCT. The GT-R practically drives itself - how else would a 1800kg car get a 7:27 'Ring lap time (unless R-rated tyres were used)? Nissan have gone about the GT-R with only figures on paper in mind IMO - and this technique has been a success. Nissan's sales department are earning their money well...

just another edition of an already boring car, however this one does sound proper fast!!!
You can feel comfortable that statements such of this are, more often than not, made from the seat of a Saxo, Focus, Passat, Golf......or Astra and usually from someone who has never sat in one less alone driven one. We are of course all entitled to our opinion, but please, such lines have been trotted out by the ill informed for years, tiring to say the least. 911 turbo is boring in the same way I would turn down Megan Fox and Adriana Lima if they were lying in my bed asking me to join them.........eating Marmite on toast AND with beer!Putting that to one side however Porsche is taking the piss more and more of late. I get evolution, I get refinement of excellence but others are simply moving the game on, which Porsche aren't and I am a 911 lover and former GT3 owner. Porsche, you are taking the piss with these spun releases with small tweaks and £21K price increases, even with options added.
