I make it that a 2.0T vRS at a list of £19904 could be had for £14420. (£19904*0.825) - £2000 = £14420
The prices are good for sure. One point to note in your calculation above, assuming you're trying to get the net amount, is that it should be £19,904/1.175 (not £19,904*0.825).

It must have killed the used market
Those were the exact words the sales guy said to me last weekend. If I was thinking of buying I'd want to know if this is a short-term offer, or does it reflect the long-term pricing for Octavia?

My initial enquiry to a local dealer resulted in this offer:
"based on a Octavia Estate vRS 2.0 FSI (Petrol) with metallic paint and rear parking sensors...
The on the road price should be £20660 but with the VAT saving the price is bought down to £17702.88."
But that's without haggling.
There's a DSG TDi for sale just up the road from me, I'm tempted to go and have a look...........
It must have killed the used market, I wouldn't have been too pleased if I had bought before the offers were introduced."based on a Octavia Estate vRS 2.0 FSI (Petrol) with metallic paint and rear parking sensors...

The attractive offers and the finance deals make this used example look a bit expensive:

"I paid nearly £21K for this car in September 09 so somebody will grab a bargain...Am looking for £16,250ovno"
He obviously didn't shop around.
ETA - Probably just a remap?

I went looking to buy used, Skoda salesperson pretty much said I could have a new one for what I was looking to spend, yet they're still trying to sell 2/3 yr old cars for premium money?

I think I might not have got the whole truth at the weekend.I was told that the VAT free promo and the 2k/2.5k allowance could be used together, this seems not to be the case.
Shame.

What's the 2k/2.5k allowance?
When I went to the dealer this weekend the guy explained that, as well as the well known 17.5% discount, Skoda were offering a psuedo-scrappage deal, £2k or £2.5k off selected models. He told me the two offers could be combined, seems that this was a mistake, I'm trying to get to the bottom of it.The 17.5% discount promo ends on 31/03/2010, presumably the new 'scrappage' promo will take it's place.
My vRS CR should be built next month and hopefully I will see it in early May!
I was at my local dealer on Saturday, as we're shopping for either a Superb Estate or an Octavia Estate.
As the Superb estate is so new there are no real deals to be had yet, but the Octavia is a different matter.
The current deal is VAT free + either 2k off petrol or 2.5k off diesels, and can be combined with finance.

As this seems like such a good deal, I'm tempted to drop the idea of the superb and get an Octavia instead. Please tell me where you get the vRS for the VAT free price and then a further £2.5K off. I think that is simply not possible on a new order. I got mine for £16195 (Diesel vRS hatchback in solid white, rear sensors, maxidot, MDI and full size spare wheel. That was with an Armed Forces discount of about 20% in total combined with the finance offers.

So I'm thinking 2.0TFSi DSG Hatch, MSFW+BT, leather, heated seats, maxidot, light asst, MDI, rear parking sensor. Colour Corrida red. Still only £18-odd K.
Has anyone successfully managed to get the DTD price AND the Skoda current low rate finance deal? It says on DTD FAQ that mfr finance deals are generally available through them, but it is a bit vague. Oh and are the finance deals only until end March? Apparently the zero-rate finance deals is for 50% dep and over 2 years, not sure I can quite manage that one, but the 4% low rate sounds like a goer.

basically the £2/2.5k offer is only realisable if you turn up with a PX you somehow acquired for free...
from what it sounds like it can't be used at the same time as the VAT free deal, and certainly wasn't mentioned by the salesman i spoke to today.
Incidentally, the monthly payments came out a lot cheaper than DTD, even though the headline price was more. I plan to order the car through DTD and then use Skoda finance to get a lower rate. It's PCP so I can't get the ultra-low rate, but its still lower than DTDs finance example that uses something like 10.6% APR. Possibly residuals are slightly higher too which brings the payment down.

I see! I am financing on the 7.9% PCP rate, it is pretty competitive I think and the monthly payments are very reasonable. There should even be some equity at the end, unlike my Mercedes which was handed back at the end of the contract. I managed to save about £400 or so over the DtD price (with no px).from what it sounds like it can't be used at the same time as the VAT free deal, and certainly wasn't mentioned by the salesman i spoke to today.

Fairynuff. At least you didn't buy a diesel expecting it to be like the petrol one you test drove (thinking it was a diesel), then collect the car and find out later !
well exactly, i was a bit dismayed with myself, but really pissed off at the salesman. Especially as the diesel wasn't actually that impressive due to the lag. Probably a very good open road tool but not much usable shove under normal driving conditions (I won't say the location of the dealership, but it was urban). Also a bit clattery... but then the one I drove was an 06 reg which is older than mine might be when the contract ends. mercGLowner said:

As I said in previous post, it was a mistake by the salesman, the deals can't be combined.Your deal seems to be as good as is possible at the moment.
