Cheers OP! I bought one not long ago from Halfrauds, stuffed it in my pocket and then went next door to M&S Food for a sandwich for lunch. It must have fallen out of my pocket as when I got back to the car it was gone. Went back inside and retraced my steps but to no avail, so asked the woman on customer service if anyone had handed in a tyre depth gauge. 'A what?', she said. 'A tyre depth gauge', I said. Blank look. I never got it back, unsurprisingly.
