If it does enter Le Mans, I assume this will be running in the same class as the Audi and Peugeout diesels? I hope it sticks it to those awful tractor engined excuses for race cars and shows those boys how to make an Eco car exciting and it sounds like the hammer of the gods while doing it.
No, based on the 911 hybrid, this would run in LM 'GTE' or when it comes to it LM 'GTHybrid'Guvernator said:

I accept they aren't great on engine noise, but you can't call a car that does a lap in less than 3:20 around La Sarthe an "excuse for a race car". They are superb bits of engineering that exploited the rules as they were, be interesting to see how things pan out this year although no-one has a budget anywhere near so no reason to suspect anyone will be anywhere near timewise either. I have seen shots of this car with "GT1" on the side, which is a defunct class. I am sure the ACO would let it race as a hybrid GT, subject to what the rules and other manufacturers wanted at the time it was ready to race. It would get far more attention and interest than a 911 in a class of one though in my opinion. Now where is that pic of a P3/4 please!?

Sorry but until a car races it can't be called a "race car" in my book. When it does, I reserve the right to refer to exhibit A, the Ferrari P3/4.
Who cares?, best looking concept race car then. Plus, this looks far better than the ferrari you mentioned IMO.

Umm yes, I stick to my statement Porsche looks better, sorry. Plus, why couldn't you have got an image yourself if you love this car so much?
J Bird Racing, here in Daytona Beach, Florida after the Roar before the Rolex 24 testing session at D.I.S. this weekend in preparation for the Rolex 24 Hour Race at Daytona this month. Porsche CONCEPT cars are already here and the future looks a lot like the past in terms of innovation and success on the race circuit and the streets. This 918RSR is just another example of where the Porsche marque' is headed.
It is stunning although, I would be more excited if this was their future design direction for the standard road cars and not a millionaire's plaything which gets used twice a year

Maybe, I have rose-tinted glasses on but I don't think it looks like a Ferrari, I thought most of the cars from that class and time looked similar?

It's funny. People complain that the modern 911 looks too much like a 911, they wish it looked more like a mid engined supercar of Italian origin. Porsche build a new supercar with chunks of design elements taken from historic mid engined Porsches, the 904 and 917 and people complain it looks like a supercar of Italian origin!
As already mentioned, the 918 RSR looks far more like the 904 than a Ferrari 360 or 430.
My thoughts exactly! There is a lot of Carrera GT in the design too as you'd expect. As already mentioned, the 918 RSR looks far more like the 904 than a Ferrari 360 or 430.
