My take on it also.Mini-roundabouts. Approach these in the same way as normal roundabouts. All vehicles MUST pass round the central markings except large vehicles which are physically incapable of doing so.

If I'm out on my bike I always indicate early and check for cars and only pull across when clear. I would rather stop than put myself in danger. Crossing two lanes is also worse as the car in the outside land might not see you if the car/bus/lorry on the inside is blocking their view.
