That's possibly my favourite F1, and has been for sale / sold for a while now [chassis #029 in Creighton Brown colouring for those that take note] and has commanded a high price http://www.bingosports.co.jp/StockDetail1/shop_632...

Gooding and Company will auction McLaren F1, chassis 066, at their Monterey sale
From their description of the original owner could this be the car that allegedly did 200 mph almost every day on the guys's commute to work as they discovered when giving it a quick remote check ?http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?p=2&a...
Actually reading Flemke's later post suggests it could be the other car ?

Coming to the realisation that i'm more than a little bit obsessed with the McLaren F1.
Badly need to see one in the flesh, are there any on display in the UK?
They turn up at motoring events quite a bit (eg. Festival of Speed etc). That's probably the best place to see one.Coming to the realisation that i'm more than a little bit obsessed with the McLaren F1.

As far as I know none are in public museums (which is a good thing!)

If you plan to come down south sometime soon, message me and I might be able to point you in a direction. Coming to the realisation that i'm more than a little bit obsessed with the McLaren F1.

... does anyone know if Flemke's magical clutch eventually got replaced?
The car has been driven very little in the last few years, unfortunately. Still though on the same clutch after 33k miles.During the life of the clutch, as it wears and starts to slip, it can be adjusted/shimmed up to 4 or 5 times before the surfaces are so worn that the plates must be fully replaced. Even that adjustment has not been needed.

Another has changed hands in recent weeks.
DK Engineering just sourced an F1 for a client in his 30s.
The 1994 car was originally delivered to Japan's Tag Heuer sales boss I believe.
That was chassis 012 they sold - it has bounced around a bit in the past few years but they have suggested it will likely stick with the new owner a while. Given his age I fully understand. Congrats to him! DK Engineering just sourced an F1 for a client in his 30s.

If you go back in time to 1994, #012 was the car used in the Best Motoring videos wearing the Tag Heuer decals. It was one of my first real exposures to the car watching those video tapes back then and despite not understanding Japanese I was still pretty mesmerized but what I could see. The car still has one Tag Heuer decal left on the center of the steering wheel - I hope he keeps it there.

Hey peloton25, I tried asking you this on another forum a couple of months ago, but you never answered. It seems you're here on this forum a lot more, so I signed up, and well here I am. Anyways, how many F1s were originally painted McLaren orange and how many of them remain that color today. Chassis #s would make it even better. Thanks.
@ Hurst
Whoops I was looking at chassis #062 when it was sold back in 2010. For some reason when you search for McLaren on G and C's website it's the only F1 that pops up. My apologies. I thought the sold price seemed strangely low.

With this one going for $8.47 million, I have no doubt that within a year or two you will start seeing them sell for over the magical $10 million mark. Although... something's just occurred to me. Since the price of the McLaren F1 is rising so rapidly and is now worth so much, I hope most of the owners don't start permanently keeping their cars in garages, worrying that if they take them out on the street that any little damage will kill value. Kind of like the 250 GTO. Very few owners exercise them regularly. Cars, especially the F1, were meant to be driven.
