Early DB9's are one of the purest shapes in modern car design... fabulous proportions.
Was down at our place in Spain last week, and there was a car in the underground car park under a cover... had a quick look, and it's an Aston of 1980's vintage on British plates (one of the big V8 brutes). Need to find out which one of my neighbors owns it.

the 11 is just nowhere near as nice as the 9 is it. Hello boys and girls
Long time etc. Hope you're all doing well. Life (or more importantly, my three kids) has been getting in the way of late, but I hope to rectify this by the latest acquisition, avec the all important P30 Performance Pack
Should compliment the family bus and the scooter quite nicely.

Just as I was thinking I'm going to scratch the Cayman S itch (@ c.£25k), a mate mentioned Z4's again today.
And lo and behold I see this, which took my fancy.

And at a third of the price of the Cayman. I've never driven a Z4 though. I'm assuming the Cayman isn't 3 times better? Anyone with experience of them both?
I'm so bloody indecisive. And it's apples and pears a bit - the Cayman is newer, with half the miles, but still...

Not much nuance to the handling and the ride is somewhat compromised (taking the run flats off is a must). Steering is somewhat lifeless but engine, 'box and brakes all good, as is reliability You also won't have to worry about depreciation IMO.And lo and behold I see this, which took my fancy.

I have owned a Z4 Coupe for over 2 years now, and they are great cars.. Any car on its original suspension will be tired/shot, so I replaced the original springs (prone to snapping), dampers (fitted Bilstein items), new poly bush antiroll bar bushes, droplinks and a proper fast road alignment by someone who knows what they're doing and it made a vast improvement!
I still don't think its in the Caymans league for precision- its more a car that's, grab it by the scruff of the neck than the scalpel- sharp
Cayman- but- that N52 is a great engine ( and less bork factor than the Cayman-particularly Gen1.)
ABS pumps pack up but ECU testing can repair and upgrade for around £330, and the water pumps can let go, as well.
Much rarer than Caymans as well!
Here's my Z4;

Lovely looking machine and on the right wheels too. Worth pointing out the water pump is surprisingly expensive on these if sourced incorrectly. Otherwise they're £300 from eBay for OEM equivalent. Regarding the 30k A stone, it's the Vantage all the way for me, the early cars are stunning.
If I win the lotto I'm buying an early one and upgrading the engine and chassis to N430 spec . The N430's awful paintwork and interior won't be carried over!
