1.1 Corsa with the usual 2.0 Red Top conversion. Pre 2000 so even cheaper tax rate.

https://www.gumtree.com/p/vauxhall/2000-vauxhall-c...

In any case you can see how good the conversion is based on the bridged ECU swinging around in the drivers footwell laugh

Full R32 conversion, 1.1 litre on the V5C. rolleyes

Such a shame that most of these loons see this as a selling point. I’d be sorely tempted by something like that as an hilarious track toy/ sleeper if I thought I could use the dodgy v5 status as a bargaining chip

One reason for this is something i have fallen foul of.

Having recently swapped a 2.5 TD in a Defender out for a rover V8 i sent off the log book to the DVLA to tell them the new CC and engine number.

i got a snotty letter in return 6 weeks later telling me i had to have a qualified engineers report proving that the engine was actually in the vehicle (Nothing to do with quality of install just proof its there).

I am a qualified engineer but apparently my say so isnt good enough (backed up with photographic evidence).

I gave up trying in the end.

(i hasten to add the vehicle is still off road!)
Is it still off the road. As a Chartered Engineer, I'd happily write a report for a very small fee.

Doubt it. That post was almost 10 years ago!

Discovered this one whilst searching for MG ZR spares - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275211498197

Basically an entry spec 1.1 Rover 25 converted to a 1.8 TF spec engine with part ZR & part BRM exterior / interior bits.

Obviously not changed on the V5 as the seller "never got round to changing it", but is "sure the new owner can do it" if they want to.

Another 1.8TF K-Series conversion this time into a Rover Metro that's still down as a 1.1 to benefit from the cheaper tax rate pre '01. Looks fun though.

He says he had a slight problem.getting through the last MOT, because of emissions.......Does the MOT not check engine number, or is it only Vin Number..
Or do they not check that either.

How hard is it to send off the V5 with new engine number and capacity?

They dont check engine number, just the VIN plate.

On many engines its not visible.

Should be on a Q plate with those mods plus the engine change undoubtedly hasn't been registered (Cosworth/YB should be 1993cc while the DVLA has it as 1988cc which is the same as the Zetec as fitted originally to the Focus).

Take an entry level 1.0 Ecoboost Ford Focus, buy a Cat B write off Focus RS, transplant everything from that to the 1.0, but don't declare the engine change on the V5 / to the DVLA.

Current owner evidently has all the pics of everything including original car, written off donor car, has all the info to show the build report, progress, etc, which would make it easy to change, yet it's up to the new owner to sort it out / declare, if they want to, apparently.

Absolutely nothing to do with the fact that not declaring the change means they're only paying £20 tax not £265 for the FRS based emissions of course rolleyes Which was probably the same reason the person who built the car originally never declared it either rolleyes

More like steal a focus RS and purchase a cheap 1.0 ecoboost - crush the 1.0 and put its plates on the stolen rs.

Love the fact in the advert it says: The car itself is still logged as a 318 petrol so take advantage of the lower insurance, tax and parking!

So dodgy
