I 'sold' my E36 328i Touing on eBay last November. After some communication with the winning bidder and a plan to come and collect on a Sunday, went totally quiet. Waste of time. It's now back on eBay, relisted on Sunday. Inundated with offers and 'best price for cash' type messages. TBH, I would just like the auction to run to the end so it's fair for everyone and the winner to pay and collect.

TBH I'd never sell my car as an auction; would rather pay £15 and have it as a classified for 30 days with a price and close offers will be considered etc

I do admit that my 'fkoffbutton' got used a lot when I sold a few cars previously on eBay; but it does get good coverage and you can soon whittle out the serious parties from the tyre kicking knobsocks

A colleague has one and I think they meet the comfy estate brief very much.
On a side note I'm sometimes more curious about the backgrounds and I presume that's an old textile mill. Seems a bit down on it's luck and would make a fabulous redevelopment opportunity.
I once rented an apartment in a converted old linen mill and loved the architecture, history and repurposing it brought to the area.

I'll stop waffling now biggrin
As said that’s salts mill where there are very very fancy apartments nearby. The David Hockney gallery is inside. The dealers address is a ghetto in the centre of a dreadful ghetto of a area.

Obviously car has been driven to a nice location for the pics.
Dealer of original Volvo is in Great Horton which, as you say, is world's away from Saltaire whilst both being "in Bradford"!

It really is a place of contrasts and the lovely is often literally next to the horrific! Some bargains to be had but most things remotely thread-level and bargesque have spent a while too long as an abused taxi.

Didn't we see that coming out of an auction recently at under half that?
Yes, isn’t it that one with the “interesting” additions to the tops of the doorcards?

I like this, though it's already over budget. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/294160841871?hash=item4...

I think they've aged pretty well, but they've always looked like the body is suspended over the wheels in an odd way, to me at least.

They're good looking, but I always think the wheelbase is a tiny bit too short and the overhangs are substantially too large. I suppose that's a result of bodging together a car on a hodge-podge of bits of shared, old platform.

100% would own. Maybe not in DC Red.

I'm possibly not replying to the correct 'pervert' thread, but my office is adjacent to the River Wandle and occupies the extended site of a textile factory. Famously, the old Liberty Fabrics textile factory building is down the Wandle at Merton Abbey Mills. It's nice to see these buildings peppered around.

However, our site is due for demolition within a few years to build more housing.

Yeah, thing is he only advertised it on the MB Club forum (where, as I noted, he's a respected pillar of the community). Had he known there was a serious issue he surely would have shifted it via the bay or similar, sparing him the full fallout.
Couple of anecdotal evidence stories.

I bought a Kawasaki Z400/4 from a mate who never took it past 4000 rpm (literally never) - it was in lovely condition but then engine didn't want to rev at all past 6000 rpm and when it did it smoked like it was broken - I asked the local Kawasaki dealership what they would do and they said thrash the nuts off it everywhere in lower gears - it got better and better and smoked less and less with each day. After a week it was fine - rev'd cleanly, no smoke and no excessive oil consumption.

PH'r RWDRules bought a Senator 3.0 24V - and it smoked like a 60 a day car - He took it to a trackday we were both booked in on and for most of the morning it puffed everywhere (regular top ups between stints were required) - by the end of the day no smoke and no more top ups required.

If it had a gentle life before you got it and hadn't been worked hard (then it's likely that it wouldn't have used much oil before) and you've used it a little harder it may well mean you are in the unhappy middle ground of slightly gummed up oil control rings and haven't got them free'd up fully hence poor oil consumption and a little occasional smoke.
The good ol' Italian tune up smile

I think it was a test.
The unqualified toss of the 'racist' hat into the thread 'ring' has me witch-hunting now.

Is this an example of the type of racism interpreted by a segment of contributors?

Apologies for stirring the pot but I don't like elephants in rooms and possibly erroneous observations. Additionally, the implication of censorship through fear of offence.

I don't know Michael. It was the only thing I could think of hence my "test" comment.
Maybe we should just post pictures of bland cars with no comments and no location and then we're safe from criticism?

This beauty is still slightly over budget but I wonder if the vendor reads these posts. They've lopped £4K off the asking price, since it was last mentioned.

In all seriousness, if that final £999 gets lopped of, I reckon I'd be mighty tempted to head down the A38 in the general direction of Brum. French chic from when they knew how to style a car, (admittedly, Peugeot seem to have got their mojo back, of late), Lashings of comfy leather with properly proportioned tyres and a lovely smooth V6 thrown in, to boot. I'll even forgive it for being plain silver. It also appears to have all the kit you could ever want in a car, too, including an actual sunroof!
