Not recently, far from it in fact, but I did see PEN15 on a red Merc 190 about 20 years ago :-)
That's hilarious ... please tell me it was lowered. https://www.regtransfers.co.uk/main/secureordering...

Moreton, Essex. A stop at a pub on a 100 mile cycling epic from Cambridge to London with a dozen other PHers.
A Jaguar XF passed by in both directions a few minutes apart. Registration number... J4 GGO
No prizes for guessing how it was misspaced... J4G GO
Later in the ride, a Honda CR-V passed a group of us, 9 1ANS
Not the worst of offenders, granted, and on an overwhelmingly disappointing day for bad plate spotting, considering we skirted the edges of both Braintree and Chelmsford, and rode straight through Epping, all of which, I had assumed, would provide rich pickings for this thread.

I expect all the Essex swamplife were either shopping at Lakeside or some other god awful enormous Essex retail park on Sunday or getting bladdered in some dreary seaside caravan park - that might be why you had a disapointing day Chavplate wise.A Jaguar XF passed by in both directions a few minutes apart. Normally it's pretty easy to score several hits in just a few miles in the middle or south of this most charming of counties. I'd recommend almost anywhere from the banks of the Thames up to roughly the A414 corridor for rapid fire Chavplate spotting, absolutely everywhere in Essex TOWIE country inside the M25 and there's heavy concentrations too in pretty much all of the mock Tudor, two cars on the drive but fkuc all in the fridge aspirational commuter towns like Danbury, Chelmsford, Wickford, Brentwood, Billericay, Rayleigh, 'Arlow and of course Saaafennnd.
In a complete reversal to the rest of the county, once you've driven some distance north of the A120 and you're up around the very rural Essex/Suffolk borders it's very unusual to see Chavplates at all, but you're actually more likley to spot Real Good ones there - many of which are no doubt worth far more than the vehicles they are displayed on. It appears numberplate wise - and in many other ways too - Essex resembles a full cesspool. The Real Good plates tend to float up to the the top of the county whilst the Chavplates and their owners stick to both sides as well as clustering around much of the middle and lie especially thickly along the bottom.
