Just read through as much of this classic thread as I could in the limited time I have!!! All I can say is that I am dumbstruck!

One thing though, I still cant get the 'custard' reference although I've looked everywhere. Can someone please explain?

Even if he did write it, he's a young guy and probably will have been in his teens at the time and wrote it just because - why do we care?

There's no need to overdo it. This is being read by quite a few people on tinterweb I'd imagine and eventually the joke will be on us for being a lynch-mob bunch of idiots for giving the 17 year old kid a hard time.
