The advert says it has a 4-link + panhard conversion for the rear axle but the leaf springs have been retained. Is that unusual? I thought if you're going to do all that you would convert to coil springs.

it's not going to the quickest thing out there but should have a good turn of pace to make an interesting change from the usual track day fare.

Mmmm, that would have been a dream car 30 years ago, and I'd still rock it now... it looks to have all the right bits... including a very nice engine!

Sure, just thought if one were doing all the welding etc to relocate the axle you might as well convert to coilovers too. Didn't realise that most group 4 cars used them though. My knowledge is rather old and sketchy being based on the first ever Practical Performance Car I read, probably 15 years ago now, with the headline, "Build a Group 4 Escort for £4500!"


Actually after watching a Harry Potter movie with the family on the weekend I started looking at Anglias and will take this instead of the Capri. £15k, leaf springs and all.

The sound handling are unchanged just a wee bit more pokey with S/C. This car mine has the MG optional Xpower back boxes fitted.

Nice. I'll take an estate please! I actually quite like these as from the factory (left-field, brisk and nice handling), but few extra ponies shall not be turned down

Considering the price of classic Fords that looks like a riot!

I'm guessing the carpet is to keep the 2L Lazer engine... ummm... warm just in case a friendly insurance person was a bit concerned abut how it was looking.

If fairness, there are many, many threads on here where items are mentioned as being for sale, or potentially so, by posters. I'm thinking about buying a gaming PC. Pound to a pinch of st, if I put a thread up asking questions about them then amongst the responses would be someone offering to sell me theirs. It's a grey area but "I'm thinking about selling it" is some way short of writing a mini-advert or linking your own advert. Indeed, there are people who post on this thread who have done that without having posts deleted etc.

If someone is seeking to evade the costs of a classified advert, I can see why the powers that be might get sniffy. If someone is exempt from those fees then not so much.

Anyway, I'm thinking about selling my........No, wait......

Quite. It's a little bit silly, especially as PH is meant to be a community. I get that they'd rather the forums weren't taken up by every man and his dog flogging their 5 year old Mondeo but readers cars stuff is hardly the same. As someone who reads that section a bit I always used to find it a bit annoying when the thread stopped with a big "it's sold" post, when I'd have actually been quite interested in buying it.

Oh well, Oli's accounts gone, posts deleted, thread gone, everyone happy. We can all get back to complaining about cyclists and their clothing, or whatever today's topic is.

My last on this subject.

• The moderation team don't see all posts on all threads, so can only act on those instances that are spotted or reported. A member happened to report Olly's thread as potentially being in breach of the Rules of Posting, and moderators took a look and decided that it was.
• The moderation looks to me to be entirely proportionate: a few posts that 'advertised' the car as being for sale were deleted, but the remainder of the thread was left intact (albeit locked).
• The thread (at least for the moment) is still there.
• If Olly had politely asked the moderation team if the thread could be unlocked on the understanding that it wouldn't be used to advertise the car then I suspect this would have been perfectly fine with them. Instead he chooses a dramatic flounce and demands all his content is deleted, guaranteeing that his BX thread will disappear. A somewhat ironic cutting off of nose to spite a face ....
