I've just borrowed one of these for the weekend and I haven't done many miles yet...

BUT the throttle lag and 'rev hang' in between upshifts is, frankly, awful. I'm kangerooing everywhere and jerking gearshifts. I even stalled it once (I haven't stalled my MX5 in 7 years of ownership!). Is anyone else suffering from this?

I really wanted to like it (and it really is a lovely car) but this is really a deal breaker for me. Great, torquey engine though.

I have a GT86, the clutch is a pig due to a clutch delay valve, I hate it. It only really effects moving from stationary for me, as I blip the throttle between up/downshifts anyway, which gives smooth changes.

The CDV can probably be bypassed fairly easily. I know a lot of BMW owners used to do so when BMW ruined all of their manual cars with the things.

I don't think it's the CDV. I can see the revs raise as I put the clutch in to upshift (I'm guessing because of the delay in the throttle closing). Very disappointing. irked

Yes.

Slow speed maneuvering was tricky to do smoothly to begin with, but soon got used to it.

The indicators annoyed me also, but got used to those now.

Still the most pleasing new car I've had for a while.

Out of interest, where do you get to “borrow one” of these for a weekend from? Are you in the UK or elsewhere?

I don’t think it’s a CDV making it tricky, it’s the odd assist spring that causes the clutch pedal to have a non linear feel. Over in gr-zoo someone has sourced a suitable lighter replacement sprint that apparently improves matters.

I’ve mostly got used to mine now but brisk getaways are still a bit hit and miss so I’ll probably try replacing the spring at some point.

Not noticed any rev hang at all, in fact the only thing holding it back is its flywheel.

I've just under 5000 kms on mine now. I don't have any rev hang. The clutch spring is definitely not to my liking and has an inconsistent return rate. This is really only noticeable when you are driving sedately, if you are going hard it's not an issue.

Still, as this is my daily I'm not going hard all the time so I have bought the MTEC replacement clutch spring. I'll update once I fit it. I'm trying to gather a few jobs together so I can knock them all out in a single half day. I have camber bolts for the front, a US front grill and a short shifter from Billetworkz to go on as well.

Yeah understandable. The rev hang reduces a little bit over time driving, through testing we have found that its particularly high while the cats are comming up to temp and in the low revs - it starts to reduce after around 4k to 7k, where its pretty much gone. So not a problem on track, but its something you will need to adjust too a little bit in daily driving, particularly when the car isn't warmed up.

People have said that it reduces over time with the car, I think that is also true.

The jumpy nature of it in low gears is partly because Toyota changed the throttle response a bit to give you more with the initial press - its not really evident in the BRZ, which is a touch more linear.

West Midlands. I have leased 6 Corollas for our business so I asked if he had one I could borrow. Turns out he did!

If anyone wants a brand new set of original wheels and tyres, taken of a new car, TPMS sensors included, factory balanced, let me know on here, I will be fitting those in the image on day 1 of collecting the car.

What made you buy something so similar to the original wheels? Are they same size etc?

The wheels are 1/2 wider at 8.0 inch with a 42 offset that will push the outer edge of the tyre 12mm, whilst the inner edge of the tyre remains in exactly the same position as standard, the tyre being 10mm wider and a stickier compound should offer better grip, and the cherry on top is the whole package weighs 39.5 pounds per wheel instead of 43.1 pounds of the standard set up, along with 20 alloy lug nuts that saves another 1.25 pounds for a total saving of over 15 pounds unsprung weight.
Plus I prefer the look of the wheel, they should fill the arch a little better too, without compromising the standard suspension.
