This discussion is all a bit pointless
But it's amusing that some posters answer is to chuck a 919 at a £20k roadbike, probably to satisfy their bike inferiority complex.

The really amusing thing is how some posters are incapable of having a discussion without throwing personal insults around.

It’s not about a comparison between bikes or cars, regulated or open formula, it’s just a question of how quick can a lap be done in the name of technological progress.

I love the TT and will always watch it but would love to know how fast the fastest car in the world can get around the 37 and a bit miles.

bikes are good at high speed fast changes in direction through "piff-paff" style corners,
They really aren't. Because a bike has to lean to corner, a complete reversal in the direction of applied g takes time, because the bike must be stood up and put back down the other side. That takes time, and if done too quick, tends to hurl the rider off and into the air:

For a four wheeled vehicle the g reversal, is pretty much as fast as you can move the handwheel, only waiting the the tyre carcass to deform the opposite way

I didn't mean chicanes, I meant the high speed "threading the needle" style corners that there's tonnes of on the TT. Cars have to give those a bit more consideration simply due to width.

That's been done since 1907, by a bike.

Yeah but it would be interesting to see what cars could do

It would be interesting, but I doubt Porsche are interested in the potential PR disaster of trying to beat a bike over 37 miles.

Or good PR from beating the bikes. But we will probably never know which is a shame.

why would you be so stupid as to do that.
I am not stupid, I am just going along with the rest of ste that both sides are throwing.

How about the same ride height for a car that the bikes run and also the same seat height.

I'd pay to watch a car lap the TT if it ran that configuration.
How about the bikes having to carry ballast so cars and bikes weigh the same ?

Getting really silly now
No no, if you want to compare with a car then the bike just has to carry the same number of people around the circuit that the car is designed for. wink

I think that depends on what you find interesting. For those of us who love the spectacle of motorcycle road racing, watching a car go round is quite dull.

Have you ever watched a full on board bike lap around there?

So would I. I'd also like to see what a TT bike with a 300 bhp engine could do.

You're going to be waiting a long time, a very long time and even then it's never going to happen!
The reality is you'll never know, ever!

I’ve watched the fast lap of the Suburu and given the speedo was shown the entire time the above doesn’t ring true - or Mark Higgins has a big cock and balls and thought to hell with giving those corners a bit more consideration.

If you could rewatch that video and give the rough times in the video so we can all review and either agree with you or call Bull st it will close that arguements off.

Look away from what, have you found the 919 you were looking for?
