It looks like no-one in that car was too surprised, angry or apologetic. One for the cameras perhaps (not to say the diff didn't break)?Sten. said:
Feel a bit sorry for Joe, I enjoy his videos and he generally seems pretty sensible compared to many others. I'll be interested to see if he discusses it in a future video. He gets a lot of press cars and invites to launches, I wonder if this will damage things for him.
Me too. Although I don't watch that much of his stuff as it seems to be 90% press cars and loads of hashtags for who has paid for whatever he's doing but he seems a genuinely nice, hardworking chap. The average person will see the term 'youtuber' and make certain assumptions which I don't think would be fair on him. There's a list of obvious candidates who I'd prefer to have got stung before him.p1stonhead said:

It was only a matter of time before the plod caught up with a YouTuber. I'm surprised it was Joe though as he seems one of the more sensible ones given the number of others who's driving is much worse.
I suspect this will just be the start of more people being caught out now there's a case law in favour of the police.
I think it was Joe purely because it was relatively simple to work out speed due to his chosen camera angle, albeit I am surprised the fag packet evidence was enough for a conviction.I suspect this will just be the start of more people being caught out now there's a case law in favour of the police.
For the absolute weapons like LLF, it's all onboard and difficult to verify location and impossible to calculate speed despite them clearly speeding.
Same for motoring journos, who have filmed themselves for years. The difference is the arty angles etc. ultimately mask things, despite we clearly realise from the gear/revs/engine noise that they must be going over the limit.
I feel sorry for Joe - the message was clearly speeding = death, which of course is over dramatised nonsense. In the brief clip I saw, he had short bursts of acceleration which were well within the car's and an average drivers ability.

Possibly for the cars and drivers ability but not on that busy road with lots of blind bends at 100+mphslowcars1 said:
You clearly didn't watch the video because if you had you would have seen Joe was entering each bend at speeds even your grandmother would be comfortable with. He was only accelerating out of corners and then letting the car engine brake up to the next corner.
Do you find his driving acceptable then given the road type/volume of traffic?slowcars1 said:

It doesn't matter. We're all bound by the same laws. If the silly sod wants to publish a video of himself on the internet breaking the law in order to make a profit from it, he (or we) ought not to complain if he gets busted. No, it wasn't crime of the century, no kittens were harmed, but it is a road where the Police focus enforcement due to a poor accident rate and publishing the video was a daft thing to do.
No doubt Steve Callaghan will be dusting off his Dirty Harry blazer and asking other YouTubers; "This is the most powerful Google Maps Pro in the world. It could blow your driving licence clean off. In all the excitement I forgot how many right clicks I did, was it 5 or was it 6? Do you feel lucky, punk?"

I completely agree - he is one of the better ones. It was still a stupid move and I would have given him a less severe punishment. Just a small fine would do.Anyone got a link to the R8 video or has it been taken down? Joe's been quite unfortunate really especially as i believe he's day job is as a chauffeur. You don't really want does points hanging over your head if you're spending so much time on the road. Would be interesting to see how it affects his car content from here on. I think his situation would affect the way other car Youtubers in the country present their stuff from now on cause I'm sure most would be aware of the prosecution. I'm sure they've had it in the back of their minds when pulling silly stunts but the fact it's happened to one of them makes it more real. I guess it was inevitable that this was eventually going to happen to one of them. Of all the car Youtubers, i think Shmee and Jayemm come across as the one's who always consciously try to drive within the speed limits at all times time plus avoiding any crazy stunts on the road that might get them into trouble with the law.

Surely it is a matter of time before something horrific happens on this channel.. It is a numbers game, excessive speeding down country lanes at some point you are going to get caught out.. This "racing driver" should know better, acting pretty reckless IMHO...G

afaik Joe was only fined for 65.4mph none of the 100mph is true, simply sensationalist article from police themselves screaming "speed kills"
pee take.
I'm really confused how Derbyshire police can get a conviction for 65.4 but publish on their own twitter a completely different number after the trial. Surely that's slander?pee take.
