even though i have to admit it looks a little odd i feel really sorry for Mclaren.

F1 teams have spent considerable sums of money investing in the new engines they were told they would be using so going back to the V8 now would be a monumental mistake.

The fans want a better sound, at least they are trying which what limited parameters the FIA have allowed and the same people who have been complaining about the lack of noise are here and on twitter ripping the piss because of how it looks?

Really?

Not sorry enough to know what their car looks like though?

I say keep the V6s, just ditch the turbos and the electrical gubbins, extract as much BHP as possible from the naturally-aspirated V6s, and have a major loss of downforce across the board for lower drag (F1 cars are a nightmare in this respect). If that slows 'em down too much - develop the V6s into V12s!

I wasn't sure about V6 but having watched this video showing the technology I was convinced

The sooner they can apply it to road cars the better

The idea of F1 becoming more 'green' by cutting the race car emissions is like trying to save up for a house by only cutting the kids' pocket money. The car emissions are a drop in the ocean compared to the relatively huge carbon footprint of flying hundred of people, cars, and equipment to all corners of the world for a few months. They could do more for the environment and fans by having more races in Europe, where people will actually want to see them.

Show car? Shown where, exactly?

No takers at £3,500 I see. There's a shocker...

Can't believe he went to the trouble of doing an engine conversion and put a diesel in it! NOS + boost controller just adds to the fun!

Only reason I can think of as it's a "show car" he must clock up a lot of miles and therefore requires good mpg!

I be happy to stick "whatever you want to to go fast" in the back and get on with it. Totally open formula restrained only by safety

E30 rear wing looks OK. If it generates real downforce, even better - even the lowliest E30s could be VERY tail-happy. In the wet, my 318iT was sideways through every corner.
I sincerely doubt that any rear wing would generate any downforce at normal every day conering speed in a run of the mill car, particularly in the wet where one is going slower.
Does anyone remember the Brabham Fan car?

Someone needs to modify a road car with a massive fan. This will give them positive down force if it's big enough.
I thought the MaCca F1 had that? with the rads breathing from underneath the car to create a low pressure area that sucks the car onto the road?
