My old 540i's popped back up again:

Looks to be sold by the trader that I sold it to, refurbed the alloys but still not disclosing the Cat-C marker that I did (hence the £2.1k premium he's now asking)
Hhhhhmmmmm.............so are you thinking of taking a gumtree advert out along these likes????? https://www.gumtree.com/p/bmw/bmw-e39-540i-m-sport...

This looks like a bargain. If it was an auto, I'd probably be going for a look.

Looks good, especially at that price. That garage is about 30mins from me, they advertise from time to time on Retrorides, the adverts always come across as being decent.http://bavarianretro.com/blog/?p=865
My sensible head says the 735, but...

That's thread spirit right there people! As someone living in Scotland, I mainly search for cars in Devon and Cornwall for this reason.

I'm strangely drawn to this 'Werthers Original' W210 E430 . One owner for the past 12 years, good spec, bit of a sleeper with a V8 under the bonnet. The tinworn has started to bite, but am I naive to think you could nurse it through 2 more MOTs just paying for the petrol?

Lovely car - it genuinely is my Mums too - she has three greyhounds, getting her to part with that car has been really hard work.

After all, it's a proven fact that the further away the purchase, the better it will be.

Per the thread way I have now paid (£1100 or thereabouts) for an un-seen e38 728i that I will now drive to collect.
It's a 3 owver car, current owner only have had it for 2 months, which always is a bad sign, but apparently he's now got a job with a close to a 100 mile commute and wants a diesel.. PO before him had it for 15 years however, and thats a good sign,
It's cheap, it has some rust, but the owner assures me that it drives well and that everything works except that the ABS warning light is on sometimes over 40 km/h, I throw caution to the wind and call wheels speed sensor on that one .
It's a '00 facelift aspen silver over black cow, comforts (not sure about that by looking at the pic, but vin-decoder says it is), sat-nav, rear-blind, sits on 16" balloons, brand new studded winters are included in the sale aswell.
Looks ok imo, mucho car for little outlay, and I hope it will be a trust-worthy companion for a few years.

What a fantastic looking thing. The 728 really was a sweet spot in the range - exceptionally refined, and surprisingly economical when you are just wafting along. Good luck with the purchase!
Great colours on that one as well. On those wheels and tyres it will show modern cars what a good quality ride really is.
