This is now a regular occurance at work once the main car park is full, despite there being an overflow car park 10 yards from where this picture was taken

So this is a busy crossroads with at least one blind corner, don't worry, I'm only parking here for ten minutes!

Four! Well spotted.

The Astra looks like it, too, is on those double yellers (foreground) and in the background through the arch, there's two dumped obstructing the footway. What a right bunch of cupid stunts.

ive seen some thoughtless and dare i say it proper couldnt give a F**k styles of parking (either some drivers think they are immortal or have no filter whatsoever in terms of consideration for how other cars can gain access or be able to leave) and often been so tempted to wheel out a couple of trolley jacks and move the offending car up and around the corner.......

or stuff a load of bananas up the exhaust and listen for the BANG!

If you did that and he went away first you would be parked accross two bays exactly like him.

How do you know he didn't do that to someone?
Because I know the person who use to do it, and I would park inside the marked bay, while he used to try and park over the line to take up two places. As a result if he went away before me, I would be correctly parked.

After a few times, they got the message.
You are changing it now lol. You said you park millimetres from his door so there's no way you can you do that and still be within the bay.

Admit it, you hadn't thought about the other car moving first and you being left accross two bays looking as badly parked as it was smile

laugh
I guess it depends on how far over the line the car was.

If its 50/50% as in that picture, then its unlikely to get another car in the remainder of the space either side.
However,
If its is 80/20% (as you often see) then there is potential to get a small car in the gap on the 20% side.

Most 80/20 parkers do it on purpose to make the next space less attractive, than alternatives - but also like to pretend to people they never noticed they were over the line.
It's the BMW pictured he was talking about so I can't see how he could park millimetres from the drivers door and still be within the lines of his own bay.

If the BMW was to leave first then he would be left parked in the middle of two bays and his car would probably end up posted on here. smile

I'm only messing about by the way pointing out the obvious
Hee hee smile

Actually that bm is probably too far over as you say, but the bays at work are pretty wide and one person with their precious mgf always parked with the drivers side about a foot over the line to get others to leave a space. They were fully able bodied and always did this near the front gate. You could slip a polo into the free bay in the normalish position and he would have to get in the passenger side. It was blatant and antisocial, but they did stop doing it after a while.

However, I have no problem with someone doing this at the back of a car park if there is enough spaces.

I know I have said it time and time again but really what does this tell you?

Spaces are just too small smile If you have a 2 door car the doors are longer and you need more room to get out of your car, Parking bays need to be made bigger wink The standard parking bay needs to be made bigger.

I think it's the way the parking spaces are set out. This is my local morrisons and never seen anyone struggle smile
(Just my opinion)

Strange as most manage to park in those spaces, but I do agree with your comments, with one addition.

You said "The parking bays need to be made bigger" , which I agree, but

"The standard of parking needs much much improvement so many make it bloody difficult for others to park"

Don't think my Volvo is much less wider those those above, I never have a problem parking.

That is a better system but if you look at a lot of the cars there, they are all almost touching the white lines, They just need to loose a few bays and widen out the spacing's.

Yeh it is an issue, tbh I've never ever seen the car park past 75% capacity and I've been in at all sorts of times so it's certainly doable.

I was just looking at something locally on streetview and noticed this spectacular parking.

This is a one way street with the idea being you drive past the space then reverse in. The amount of people you see like this or even worse nose in at 90 degrees to the spaces is staggering.

if that person went straight into the pub, they get a pass from me.......sometimes i'm to thirsty to park.

Not immediately apparent from this angle, but...

...usual Muppetry at the local COOP.

The cars on the right should not be parked there. Nor should the black (Vectra?) back left. There's a white line around the proper parking space (enough for 2/3 vehicles depending on their size) on the left.

Now. See the white car reflected in the shop window? She's just had to reverse back from the corner, to go out the 'wrong' way (it's a one-way flow car park). Only she can't leave that way, because there's three more cars trying to get in. The dark coloured 4x4-ish thing behind the Alhambra is causing the biggest share of the problem, because it's too far back and out from the kerb for anyone to get past her to get out. How do I know it's a 'her'? Because she's sat in the driver's seat, having a good old natter on her phone, ignoring the chaos she's causing. I'm so glad I was on foot, not getting caught up in this nonsense.

That needs to be sent to the school and she needs to be publicly shamed in the school newsletter and Parent Mail with an attached photo, WTF gives that parent; probably a mum, the right to park there?

Bet she has fat kids too.
In the news today http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-27429481

"Research by AXA Car Insurance claims only 17% of people know stopping on the zig-zags is banned at school-run times." eek

I thought that sort of knowledge was basic. Makes me wonder what else people don't know.

Couple spring to mind.

When a bus lane is not a bus lane.

Box junctions.

Roundabout procedure.

Use of indicators.

Where I live just about all the houses are a short distance from the school, still they drop the little darlings off by car.
