Now mine is fully run it does feel just the right amount of quick. I’m loving it, especially after some alignment tweaks.

It does feel like it’s torque limited or that the throttle map is different in 1st and 2nd vs the higher gears though.

Anyone considering the HKS Legamax premium exhaust?

Obligatory pic alongside some breakfast run accomplices:
Considered it but went with the HKS spec L (the 004 model for the BRZ not the 001)

The throttle is a real pain in the ass, it's a major let down and I'll probably seek to have it remapped at some point it's that bad.

Must say I do like a forum when I look to own or actually own a particular car, to hear views, knowledge and opinions, but this GR86 forum is going to be the most limited member based one yet, with only 430 cars to be had, and around only half that number will have a car as I write this, it’s a shame, but also a privilege to be part of something so special and rare.

Don't own a GR86 but definitely like them. What surprises me is the limited number of cars that were allocated to the UK.
From the interest it has received on PH alone, I'd think the market in the UK is undersupplied whereas in other countries it's the other way round.
I live in CH and browsed the toyota.ch classified for fun the other day. There were more than 10 cars immediately available either new or as demo, with demos having covered between 1k to 2k mls being available up to 10% below list.

I also live in CH and frankly it's the anomaly rather than the norm across Europe. All other European markets are crying out for cars. I was tracking this very early on to the point that I contacted Toyota Switzerland in September 2021 to "pre-order" the car.

85-90 cars were allocated to Switzerland in the first batch that arrived in June 2022 but were only released in October due to whatever undisclosed issue was in play. Of those, it seems 25-30 is all that were actually pre-ordered by customers such as myself. The figure of available cars has come down from 65 to 30 over the past 6 months so it's a very slow rate of sale from in-stock cars.

The UK was one of the only European markets to state the full run initially. All the other countries we told that sales would open back up in 2023 for a second order batch. Unsurprisingly, rumours are starting to emerge that this will not happen at all now. Toyobaru are not able to meet demand in the USA and crucially Japan at present and these need to take priority given both the market sizes and the fact the car is a long term product offering in those markets.

Circling back to CH, my belief is Toyota dealers want these cars out of the showrooms as they are just taking up space and they can't sell any of them in any case as none are available so they are 10% discounting the demos. Also, the consumer profile here means that the 86 falls into a gap that has very little market traction. Those who have the space and budget to have a sports car in the garage tend towards one of three groups; convertible, classic, premium. On the other end, the aspirational younger drivers want something "fast" A45, RS3, Golf R.

Toyota has next to zero traction here as a purveyor of sporting vehicles. If you want your mind really blown, go and check out how many GR Yaris' are for sale right now!

The Legamax Sport is my favourite sounding exhaust for the car so far. But can't quite swollow the price...

Hi everyone, who’s taken out the service plan, £36 per month for 3 years, includes the 1st MOT, 3 years breakdown and 3 services.
At £1296 total, seems quiet expensive, the 1st service is just an oil change say £200, so the the other 2 are costing around £450 each? Breakdown is free for the 1st year, so 2 years Breakdown cover and an MOT are worth say £200, are the second and third service £450 each, doesn’t seem any savings to be had paying in advance at those prices.
Opinions welcome

Regarding service plans, it’s best to view as you’re freezing the costs if (when) they increase, rather than saving anything now.

I would not expect her to break down. And she won't need an MOT for three years...

Pretty disappointing they don't offer some kind of discount. Seems expensive especially when I was looking at an i20n and they offer a 3 year service package for £199.

Those service prices are expensive! Just paid £699 for a 5 year plan for my Type R.

Thanks guys, that’s what I suspected, I bought a new Abarth competizione in 2017 that I still have and got 3 years free serving with that, you would expect a 20% discount at the very least as Toyota would be guaranteed your business for 3 years, I know a very good independent I use would save 50% on those prices, I don’t need another breakdown policy as I have the AA cover already.

Well she’s finally home, and I’m loving it, running in may be a pain, but 70 miles under the belt today, have a black duck bill spoiler to fit, my new wheels are definitely an improvement on the standard look in my opinion, not easy choosing a set of wheels, but I’m pleased I chose these.

That looks stunning. The polar opposite to bland. And that's just looking at it. Remembering how playful my GT86 was, I would hazard a guess that bland is on of the most misplaced comment I have read about a car on PH, and the bar is very high. Unless of course the author of the comment comes from something very exotic and very lairy.
