Busy day for it today considering I've not been far.
As these plates are not the same age as the cars, presumably the owners bought them, thinking they spelt/meant something. ??Edited by thetapeworm on Thursday 4th July 21:18
Why on earth would somebody pay money for the C124PPY plate on the LR?

Not sure if it is the right place for a mass posting...
Had a bit of a 'discussion' with the guys from DVLA yesterday at FoS.
They seemed to be promoting the deliberate misrepresentation.
I did ask if he knew any one called "JE fifty five SSO" - he said that it read "JESS".
To be fair he did state that they shouldn't be mis-spaced or modified - but it is quite clear why they are selling them.

Despite what he said their advertising promotes a number as spelling a name or something, but if you display it as such then they can withdraw it or fine you. Had a bit of a 'discussion' with the guys from DVLA yesterday at FoS.

Definitely false advertising. As the ASA takes action for just one complaint against an advertisement they should take action against the DVLA, but being a government dept they won't.

Anyway, one from this morning. Nothing on that poster suggests you should buy a plate that starts MR 53 and space it like this:
A C12CUS - London black cab.
CL57RE N -Ford Kuga. Nice one cl57re
EX16EE R - Bright orange Lotus Exige. I think it's a thing for Lotus / Exige owners to have a crappy plate.
VH05TYL - Peugeot 207 Urban (no doubt there's been a space between the first two letters in the past)
PH12LLX - Range Rover.
