Basically every car you see on Carwow is a press car that they're filming in an environment they have total control over. I tried filming something today with a car and it failed miserably because of wind noise, bad light and the fact it was freezing - plus twas just me on my lonesome.
I dont ignore the feedback though, and some videos already released have featured an increasing amount of exterior/interior shots
I don't know how you find the time or enthusiasm to do the videos you do when you consider what goes into making them without a team of people chipping in. I appreciate the one man band style content if it's done well just as much as the high end production that goes into some of the channels where they have access to test tracks and teams of people doing individual roles. There's room in YouTube for a range of styles and budgets. I dont ignore the feedback though, and some videos already released have featured an increasing amount of exterior/interior shots
That said I was watching a channel yesterday which popped up as I have an interest in camper vans. It turned out to be a campervan holiday with some bloke walking around with a camera phone filming his family around the campsite in a Blair Witch style. You couldn't hear half of what he was saying with the wind noise and there was no script or plan to what he was saying, it was just watching some family I didn't know having a holiday. Awful. At least you have a plan and relevant content
Even as a former cameraman, I will tell people that sound is more important than visuals on YT.
The number of big YouTubers who still try and get away with the microphone on a GoPro or similar frustrates the heck out of me. I wound up buying a radio mic in the first month or so of YouTube - it just makes sense.

Officially gassed isn't one I've seen mentioned on here before.

Come on, lets have your photos up chaps, for a constructive critique
Not sure why we feel the need to make such comments, I am sure the chap is aware he doesn't have an American news Anchor smile and ginger hair, it isn't Next Top Model he is on, its about his motor which was pretty impressive considering it is FWD, it looked really, really quick.
Where i will comment is LLF is very good at giving himself and his guest the opportunity to record potential evidence to YouTube for future analysis by the Police, not that I want to see him get done, he just needs to realise this and calm down a bit before it happens, or worse.
Was actually dumb struck when he asked him about what other cars he'd raced in it. When he said it doesn't do well on short races I was thinking "hmm, what strips are over 1/4 mile near Wales?". Then he says "like a bypass or short road is no good, you need a long dual carriageway"Not sure why we feel the need to make such comments, I am sure the chap is aware he doesn't have an American news Anchor smile and ginger hair, it isn't Next Top Model he is on, its about his motor which was pretty impressive considering it is FWD, it looked really, really quick.

Holy fk! Apart from the recent Joe Achilles conviction do these people not realize how they sound? Spending £30k on an old Seat to race on a dual carriageway. Priceless.

You’ve made your point many times now. You’re starting to look quite bitter and dare I say it - jealous?F2 DDY said:

FWIW i don’t agree with most of your labelling there - i’ve got a reasonable view on how most of the named got to where they are. Whilst some might have had solid upbringings (STG probably has the only really privileged upbringing on paper, but you never know the reality of that to judge and he never comes across as an ass for it), most have worked (hard) for the cars/access/followers. Unsure on how much JWW’s family biz helped, though and don't really care - again, seems like a nice guy. Don’t let jealousy cloud your judgement of the people.Manufacturer arse licking, though, i can agree with you.

Extend that to 'anyone selling anything' arse licking. I really like Joe Achilles but his recent post about staying in Wales was accompanied by what looked like an estate agents advert for the place. Reminds me of that scene in Waynes World when they talk about product placement.Does anyone know what actually happened with this whole Joe Achilles speeding thing?
I watched his Cupra Ateca review the other day and his final comment before the end of the video was something along the lines of; "Don't believe everything you read in the media".
What I read online was that the local Police force had done some kind of average speed checking, just from watching his video of him in the R8, and had managed to work out that his minimum speed was never under the speed limit and the maximum was just under 100 mph.
I know the Police can do this kind of thing and I'm sure newer technology can assist with it, but I do smell BS. Apologies if this has been discussed on earlier pages.

I'd agree MCM have gone off the boil somewhat and the stupid 'track battles' are starting to grate a bit.
I'll confess to watching far too much Youtube, and hardly watch normal TV anymore, and enjoy a steady diet of American (and other) channels
Cleetus (both channels)
PFI Speed
boostedboiz
Rob Dahm
B is for Build
Off the Ranch and the mansion rebuild
The Skid factory, Al's brilliant.
Bennys Custom Works -Cresta on Drag Week etc
1320 video occasionally
Tavarish, who actually finished a build for once..
DDE, sometimes
and that led me to Sheepy Race and the builds they do.
Emelia Hartford.
Sarah N Tuned.
I've just started watching Deadbeat Garage to learn about building A B20vtec.
plus a whole load of Classic Mini channels as that's my main interest.
Your subs list is very similar to mine - great to see Leroy back in the 7's!I'll confess to watching far too much Youtube, and hardly watch normal TV anymore, and enjoy a steady diet of American (and other) channels

I tend to ignore most of Tavarish videos now and I can't warm to Rob Dahm although you can't fault the effort he puts in. I will check out a couple of your other recommendations as you appear to have very similar taste to me!
Skid Factory and Cleetus have to be my two fave channels - Benny's Custom Works doesn't get the numbers it deserves.
Can any of the 'Youtubers' on here honestly say, hand on heart, that they have never bought views, likes or subscribers?
Why would, or should, anyone care what people who can't drive have to say about a car? If people find youtubers entertaining that's fair enough but their views about cars are worthless. I hope car makers are beginning to realise this.
Remember the youtubers early views on the McLaren 720S? They were given unprecedented early access and were mostly underwhelmed because the exhaust didn't pop and bang enough (or whatever). When people who could actually drive a car got hold of them we started to get a more accurate picture of a car that (when working properly) moved the goalposts for the supercar class.

I haven't, and I doubt any of us have, at least recently. It might have worked ten years ago, but now YouTube would find out and punish you, or at best, you've got subscribers that aren't engaging with new content, which is bad for the algorithm too.twinturban said:

Yes, absolutely certainly I can say that. I have never, ever bought views, likes or subscribers.twinturban said:

What many people forget is that the majority of car buyers aren't "Piston heads", of course supercars have a greater enthusiasm level but even still many are bought as luxury items opposed to absolute car nuts wanting the best performance. As such any person in the world; established influencer or not is qualified to give an opinion and have a view - not one single person's view is "worthless". Car makers are actually starting to realise how important this is, and that's why you are seeing more and more influencers from different categories attending such events.twinturban said:

The first wave of YouTubers attending the 720S launch in Rome was during the media launch, so the exact same time and same embargoes as the journalists and the feedback from that content much reflected the same views of the journalists who also drove - there was no substantial difference to it. Everybody understood that the performance was otherworldly - this was never in dispute - but then, as now, compared to many market competitors the 720S lacks an emotional element that you will find more prominent in other cars of the category.Carl Hartley in big trouble after a crash in 2018...

You've posted 5-6 times on this thread. And each time its been a tirade against Youtuber's that you perceive to have privilege and money. Which is fair enough. But it feels like you're taking the whole thing very personally (rather than just ignoring them like the rest of us) - did a Youtuber once run over your dog in a Rolls-Royce or something? Or are you Jeremy Corbyn in disguise? :;TorqueR said:
I saw a brand new BMW M8 Competition on the M1 earlier today, followed by an M850i and new M340i so presume they were all in convoy.
I hadn’t realised that the M8 had been released yet. Tim, when do you expect to have your M8?
The press fleets have their cars so it was quite likely that. Normally their plates start "YK" or similar.I hadn’t realised that the M8 had been released yet. Tim, when do you expect to have your M8?
I'm thinking it will arrive around January/February but waiting for confirmation.

Just spotted in my YT suggestions that Sideways Sid has dropped all sideways branding as of a week ago and renamed Sid North... Have I missed something? Or has he realised that drifting on public roads and filming it is asking for trouble?
He's a good friend of Joe Achillies so wouldn't be surprised if Joe being caught out has caused him to change his channel for the better. Muppet.
