Over thread max, but so what!?

My spidey senses tell me that if you're going to buy one, buy this one. We've had plenty of £5k garbage Turbo R's posted up in this forum.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1996-Bentley-Turbo-R-pr...
"Royal Arsenal, Greenwich"? It is really that painful to say Woolwich? rofl

Anyways... I spent about a year of my apprenticeship shadowing a tech that only worked on pre 97 Bentleys and RRs. Despite having a genuine interest and willingness to learn about the only thing I can remember from that year is how to take off the wheels (reverse thread studs, see Dukey, I was listening winkfrown).
Where most cars and systems make sense if you think about things long enough, these beasts seem like they were designed to be complicated for complicated sake and only truly understood by a breed of people we are losing by the day frown. The understanding that the purchase price is only "admission on entry" and a good specialist (and a total respect of how rare and valuable they are) are absolute musts.

There's nothing quite like them though and as much as I'd really, really like one, they are cars for people braver (or less traumatized) than me.

The photographs are a lot wittier than the copy, although they reveal fk all about the car. I see CdG is at the wheel in this one:

But what is the price? Is it the £9,995 asking price or the £8,950 in the text?

Have we had this before?
A 540i Touring with manual gearbox.

Two grand over thread limit but a pretty rare car I think....or to use the vomit inducing advert, a "unicorn".
Here's the link if you want to see it.

Was it the big hands that gave him away?

In the description it explains the steering wheel is a later addition that's worth a fair bit, and that the the vendor could possibly make some money selling desirable bits separately.

That dashboard looks great to my eyes.

I posted the Retro Rides thread link to this when it first went up for sale on there, maybe a month or so ago.

Nice car, too much money for 95% of folk.

No, it actually hasn't.

This has been a gripe (ok, a very minor gripe, since I don't have one) of mine.

The wooden steering wheels are made from solid wood (in 4 pieces), which isn't then a match for the chosen veneer in the rest of the car.

Looks ok against burr walnut, but it jarrs a bit against the lighter veneers.

A forum5 poster went to see it and pronounced it not as good as the pictures and description...

I seem to recall the owner himself chipped in on these very pages during some ongoing discussions.

I'm not sure whether that's brilliant or pretentious and ridiculous.

I think it's both, although it'd be far more ridiculous and not at all brilliant if it was an invoice for one of the VAG Bentleys. Although many of the sorts who buy them are probably not entirely averse to a tattoo of a meaningful verse in a tasteful script like that.

What should I look out for on a Mercedes-Benz CLK 2004 (53 reg) Convertible.

It's a black convertible with tan interior, 2 owner car and last owner since 2013 but now retiring from driving.

Also, how water tight are convertibles?

Why are you charging £125 an hour!?

"Well, it takes Julie most of the afternoon to draft your invoice, and when we tried to charge for her time as a line item, people started grumbling. Also, vellum doesn't grow on trees you know."
