"R1 TCH" sold for £7500 + the bits in Dec 98, but it is not showing as been registered to a vehicle so that number has been messed around with but I can't work out what it actually is ?

Alternative car data websites are often a few days or more behind. R1 TCH does not exist on a car according to DVLA so has likely been recently retained. Depending on when it was done, the car owner is a little 'tardy' on swapping the plates.
