Keep thinking about just getting a 10kish V8 Jag currently

XK/XF NA 5.0

very tempting....
Picked up a late XK portfolio. I cannot tell you how nice it is as a place to be and it just does “long distance tourer” better than anything else I’ve driven. Fast enough to be fun, surprisingly economic on a motorway cruise and subtler than an XKR.

Just about peak Jaaaaaaag - cannot recommend highly enough.

For some reason this popped into my brain today, the Ginetta G10 as featured by Dandarez of this parish a while ago...

That is a very pretty thing. Shades of 250 GTO

I should hate it - there is however something about that that appeals yes
I know what you mean. Some bloke in the next road had one when i was a nipper. Always quite fancied one, as it looked cool, despite being more rust than metal and it had a certain kitschy charm that always stuck.

Can anyone please help me understand why I shouldn't buy a Honda Beat?

Suddenly on Monday thought to myself "Honda Beats - i remember them in Autocar when i was a kid, they're tiny and cool - wonder how much". And then many hours of youtubes later i'm no less determined. And Mrs CideRed also things its an amazing idea, which is rare.

It may only be so i can park a red one next to my red NSX and smile a lot - probably not enough of a reason to buy a car, but - I'd smile a lot, so.....

Why are you waiting!?!? Run run run and buy one (or an S660 if you wanted newer).

pfffff - well, reasons not to are too many cars already, and never enough space. But - i've just measured the path down the side of my house toward the back garden, and looked up car covers - I could easily squeeze the little blighter down there, stick a cover on it, and surely not heavy enough to crack paving tiles?

Other reasons are what would it actually be used for - other than driving to local car-based cafe in convoy with the NSX. Which to be honest, does sound brilliant now I type that...

They aren't a lot of money, but they also seem to stay on sale for a long time - tiny numbers, tiny car, but tiny market. So if i did get bored just looking at it, and occasionally driving to Podium Place, may take a while to move on again... but - these are tedious grown-up thoughts.

Watch this space...

McLaren MP4/12C

The more I look at then the better they look.
I’m about 2 ‘financial car chess moves’ away from thinking seriously about them.

But they are stunning & so classy looking.

Much want.

Perhaps something like a 570S might be a better buy after all the learning McLaren did with the MP4?

Stop reminding people they exist I've been keeping an eye on them for a while now. Only downside I can see is in an accident I'd imagine its not much safer than a motorbike. But provided you don't crash it, could be lots of fun. Parts might be a bit of an issue but if its not your only car it should be fine.

It's probably changed now, but I remember when Shamal's were cheap and it always felt wrong for how special they were.

On a different note, it seems nailed on that anything with the BMW V10 is under-appreciated.

When they stop being seen as a "contemporary fast car that costs a lot to run" and a collectible classic with one of the last hurrah's of ICE power in it, these will surely be seen as ultra desireable if they haven't been ragged?

They do sound fabulous, with their ITB’s, although definitely not fast.
My concern is that the engines are worn out, just because you have to thrash them, to keep up with traffic.
Yes I know it’s a Honda, and they can last for ever…
